Struggle paid off – Now Sonia can see a wave of light in her career path.
Be it in a rural or urban area, many of our meritorious students do not get a chance to fulfill their dreams of a top-class higher education and a great career path. Sonia Mancheela’s story is one which many students looking to aspire for a brighter future can relate to. Financial help from Fair & Lovely Foundation Scholarship propelled her aspiration of acquiring a government job. Coming from a financially constrained family, she has pulled off a great struggle to be able to see here dreams come true.
Buddy4study: Give us a brief background about your academic and professional journey until now.
Sonia: I graduated in Engineering from Kakatiya University, Kurnool, in the year 2017. I have always been a meritorious student in school and college. But I never got the opportunity to scale my dreams due to financial constraints. Finally, I was able to get monetary support to take coaching classes so that I could crack Public Service examinations. Currently, I am working as a Software Engineer in a start-up company in Hyderabad and simultaneously preparing for the competitive exams.
Buddy4Study: What were the key challenges that you faced during the course of your journey to reach here?
Sonia: Belonging to a family with an agricultural background, I struggled to pay my college fees and other expenses. Poverty and loss of parents doubled the problems in my life. I and my sister were taken care of and supported by our guardian who is an agricultural farmer.
Buddy4Study: What has been your source of inspiration?
Sonia: My grandfather has been an inspiration for me who despite facing financial troubles encouraged me and my brother to pursue education. Also, I have faith in my abilities and hard work which finally paid off in the form of this scholarship.
Buddy4Study: How has your family supported you in your venture to pursue this course?
Sonia: My family has been my support system in every possible way. My grandfather really worked hard to pay for my college and other expenses. He and my brother motivated me to excel in my school and college studies so that I can have a great career and bright future prospects.
Buddy4Study: How did you come to know about the Fair & Lovely Foundation Scholarship? What were the steps followed to avail the scholarship?
Sonia: My brother informed me about the scholarship – Fair & Lovely Foundation Scholarship, which helps meritorious students to create a great future for themselves irrespective of their financial backgrounds. I applied for the scholarship through the Buddy4Study portal and underwent a selection process. Finally, I received a call informing me that I have been selected for the scholarship.
Buddy4Study: What are your ambitions in the future and how do you plan to execute them?
Sonia: I am ambitious about getting a reputable and secured job in the government sector. I am lucky to get financial support in this regard. I am now able to afford coaching classes that will allow me to excel in the public service examinations. I also plan to open an organisation that will take care of poor, old and orphans.
Buddy4Study: What piece of advice would you impart to other potential aspirants who wish to pursue higher education but are constrained by various challenges?
Sonia: Follow your passion. Focus on your studies and excel at it. Also, be more open in your communication with friends and family and look out for ways to apply for financial help through scholarships. If you have merit, then you deserve to get financial help for higher studies or other ambitions to shape a bright future for yourself. Ultimately, a scholarship helps you to become independent and puts less burden on your family.
