PM YASASVI Entrance Test – Exam Date, Online Form & Important Guidelines 

PM YASASVI Entrance Test  is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under Government of India to financially help Classes 9 and 11 students. It is designed to benefit the students belonging to Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically Backward Class (EBC) and Denotified Tribes (DNT), Nomadic Tribes (NT) or Semi Nomadic Tribes (SNT) categories. 

Scholarship Registration and Login

Under this scheme, those candidates whose annual family income is below or equal to 2.5 lakh are eligible to appear for the test.  The selected students get scholarship awards ranging between INR 75,000 to INR 1.25 lakh. 

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India has formulated the scheme called PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM YASASVI) to recognise and reward the meritorious students in India.

PM YASASVI Entrance Test – Eligibility

Students must fulfil all the requirements before applying for the PM YASASVI test. Here are the important details on the eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must be Indian Nationals.
  • Students belonging to OBC, EBC and DNT/NT/SNT categories.
  • Students must be studying in identified Top Class Schools.
  • It is mandatory to qualify Class 8 or Class 10 examination in the mentioned academic year (in the notification).
  • The annual income of the parent/guardian must not exceed INR 2.5 lakh.
  • The age limits of students for academic year 2023 are:
    • Applicants who are applying for Class 9 test must be born between April 01, 2007 to March 31, 2011 (including both days).
    • Applicants who are applying for Class 11 test must be born between April 01, 2005 to March 31, 2009 (including both days).
  • Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply for the entrance exam.

Facilities for PwD Candidates 

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment have issued guidelines on the ‘Written Examination for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.’ As per the guidelines a PwD candidate will receive the following facilities: 

  • The National Testing Agency (NTA) provides a scribe to PwD candidates.
  • The scribe only writes the test, however does not explain the question or solutions to the candidate.
  • A compensatory time of 20 minutes for one hour of examination (for 3 hours examination the candidate will get 60 minutes of compensatory time).

PM YASASVI Entrance Test – Documents Required

Applicants must prepare the following document before applying for the PM YASASVI entrance exam: 

  • A valid Government ID proof (Aadhaar Card/UID Number)
  • Date of Birth proof
  • Educational qualification proof (Report Card of Class 8 or 10) 
  • Passport size photograph (JPG/JPEG format, size between 10 kb to 200 kb) 
  • Caste Certificate signed by competent authority (mandatory)
  • PwD Certificate (if applicable)
  • Income Certificate
  • Bank Account number (must linked with aadhaar number)

Note – The passport size photograph should be either coloured or black & white against white background. The face visibility of the candidate must be 80% (without mask) including ears. 

PM YASASVI Entrance Test – Awards

The selected candidates for PM YASASVI scheme will receive the following scholarship awards:

  • Class 9 students will be benefited by INR 75,000 per year.
  • Class 11 students will receive 1.25 lakh per year.

Note – The scholarship amount can be used only to pay school tuition fees and hostel fees.

YASASVI Entrance Test – Exam Mode and Qualifying Marks 

Exam Mode

  • The PM YASASVI entrance test is conducted in pen paper mode and is an Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) based exam.
  • There will be multiple choice questions and students need to mark the answer by darkening circles on the OMR page/sheet.

A student must secure at least 35% marks in a written test to be declared qualified in the examination.

YASASVI Entrance Test – Pattern of Examination

The students must prepare for examination as per the latest exam pattern. The question paper will consist of 100 questions of 100 marks in total. Further, the test paper is divided into 4 sections mentioned below: 

  • Section A – Mathematics subject including 30 questions 1 mark each.
  • Section B – Science subject including 25 questions, 1 mark each. 
  • Section C – Social Science subject including 25 questions, 1 mark each. 
  • Section D – General Awareness and General Knowledge domain including 20 questions, 1 mark each.

YASASVI Entrance Test - Pattern of Examination 

Note: All the 100 questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), in which students need to select the correct answer among 4 options. There will not be any negative marking in the entrance test.

PM YASASVI Entrance Test – Admit Card

  • Once the eligibility conditions are fulfilled, the students can download the e-Admit Card issued provisionally through the NTA official website. 
  • They must ensure appearing in the examination at the given time, date, and allotted exam centre.
  • If any candidate faces a problem in downloading an Admit Card from the website, they can connect to the NTA Help Line Number 011-40759000 or 011- 6922 7700 between 10.00 am to 5.00 pm

Note – Candidates are not allowed to appear in any examination centre other than that allotted to in the Admit Card. Also, no Admit Cards will be sent to the candidate by post.

PM YASASVI Entrance Test – Result

  • The NTA will evaluate the OMR answer sheets of students by using standard procedures and will declare the result later. 
  • The result date will be updated on the official website of NTA.

  • The students need to be focused on the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus of Classes 8 and 10. 
  • Students must refer to the NCERT books of Class 8 to appear in Class 9 YET (YASASVI Entrance Test). 
  • For Class 11 entrance tests students must refer to the NCERT books of Class 10.

Tips for Preparation of YET 

Once students get insights about the syllabus and types of questions in the test paper, they may follow the general tips listed below:

  1. Regular practise – Students are recommended to go through the NCERT books and its syllabus and keep practising the related subjects. 
  2. Study Plan – Students must create a well-structured study plan and follow that on an everyday basis.
  3. Find weak areas – Students must find which is the weaker field of studies and try to stay more focused on that particular subject.
  4. Time Management – The time management skill is very important for exam preparation and the day of examination. Students must solve the question paper within a specific time (for instance in 2.5 hours).
  5. Calm mind – For effective learning students must have a calm mind, hence, they must try to stay away from any disturbance (like phone, TV, new social media trends, etc.). However, it is also necessary to spare some time for outdoor activities like running, sport, exercise, and more to stay healthy. 
  6. Stay Updated – Students must always stay updated regarding the exam date and time, syllabus, application timeline, and other important details.

PM YASASVI Entrance Test – Other Important Details

Barred Items in Examination Hall

Candidates are not allowed to carry the following items inside the examination centre:

  • Stationery items (such as textual material in bits of papers, geometry/pencil, box, plastic pouch, calculator, pen, scale, writing pad, pen drives, eraser, electronic pen or scanner, etc.
  • Mobile phones, cameras, bluetooth devices, earphones, microphone, health band, pager, etc.
  • Goggle, belt, wallet, cap, handbag, etc.
  • Bracelet, wrist watch, bracelet, etc.
  • Any ornaments or metallic item.
  • Food item whether opened or packed. 

Important Instructions for Parents/Guardians 

The parents/guardians are required to understand and follow the below listed points:

  • Only one parent/guardian should come with their ward and must wait outside the gate during the conduct of the examination.
  • The candidate must reach the examination centre 30 minutes before the starting time of examination. 
  • parent/guardian must ensure their ward is not carrying any unfair means during the examination.
  • A candidate can leave the exam hall once all the candidates complete the examination.
  • Ensure the candidate is carrying admit card, 2 passport size photographs, original ID proof (Aadhaar Card), transparent water bottle, a simple ballpoint pen only.

Important Instructions for Candidates

All the candidates are advised to come along with the following items in the examination hall: 

  • A clear printout of admit Card (downloaded from the NTA Website only). 
  • Blue or black Ballpoint pen.
  • 2 additional passport size photographs (one to be pasted on the admit card and second on the attendance Sheet).
  • Authorised Government photo IDs (PAN card/Passport/Aadhaar Card).
  • PwD certificate (if claiming facilities under PwD category).
  • Personal water bottle.
  • Sugar tablets and fruits are allowed if a candidate is diabetic.
