NMMS West Bengal 2026-27 Eligibility Criteria 

Before applying for the NMMS West Bengal, students should confirm that they meet all the conditions set by the state authority. The eligibility is assessed on three counts: the type of school, academic performance in Class 7, and annual family income, each explained below.

NMMS West Bengal 2026-27 Application Process – How to Apply?

The application process for NMMS West Bengal is online, carried out through the official scholarship portal of the West Bengal School Education Department. In most cases, applications are submitted by the student’s school. Students should inform their school authorities early and ensure all documents are ready well before the deadline.

Step 3: Read the Instructions and Proceed

Read the full instructions on the NMMSE 2026 page. Scroll to the bottom and select Proceed to Registration, or download the instructions using the option on the left.

Step 4: Fill in the Registration Form

Enter the required details, including a valid email ID and mobile number, since all future communication is sent to them, and set a strong password. This password is needed to log in for the rest of the process.

Step 5: Complete Registration and Note the User ID

Select Register to complete the process. The system generates a registration number (User ID) and sends it by email and SMS. Download the registration details or proceed to log in.

Step 6: Log In to the Dashboard

Sign in using the registration number as the User ID and the password set during registration. On logging in, the scholarships dashboard opens, showing the application status and controls.

Step 7: Fill Up the Application Form

Select Application and then Form Fill Up. Complete every section carefully, Primary Details, Postal Address, Institution Details, Other Details, Bank Details and Photo Upload, since any wrong information can cancel the candidature. Select Save to store the form in draft mode. The form can be edited and saved until it is locked.

Step 8: Lock the Application Form

Once the form is saved, a Lock button appears at the bottom-right. Review the details, then select Lock Details and confirm. After locking, the form cannot be edited.

Step 9: Download the Verification Certificate

After locking, go to the download section and download the Verification Certificate. Take a printout, get it signed by the school or institution Head, and scan the second page for uploading.

Step 10: Upload the Supporting Documents

Upload the required documents as PDFs under 200 KB each: the signed second page of the Verification Certificate and the income certificate from the designated authority. SC, ST and OBC candidates upload the caste certificate, and candidates with disabilities upload the disability certificate.

Step 11: Finalize the Application

Once all documents are uploaded, the Finalize Application button becomes active. Select it to finalize and submit the application for verification. A confirmation appears that the form has been sent for verification.

Step 12: Track the Status and Correct if Unlocked

The dashboard shows the application status. If the form is unlocked for a correction, the reason appears on the dashboard and by email. In that case, edit the flagged details, then finalize the application again before the last date. On successful verification, the candidate receives an SMS and email, and can later check the portal for the admit card download.

The NMMS offers financial support to meritorious students from economically weaker families to help them continue their education beyond Class 8. Selected students receive ₹12,000 per annum (₹1,000 per month) directly in their bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer mode.
