The India Fellow Program is a dynamic 18-month leadership initiative tailored for professionals from diverse backgrounds. This program is primarily designed to unearth and nurture leadership potential, empowering participants to introduce positive societal transformations.

Since its inception in 2010, the program has welcomed 250 fellows from various academic and professional disciplines. These fellows have embarked on a transformative odyssey, collaborating with over 80 partner organisations across India on innovative projects. Guided by mentors from various spheres of life, participants delve into multifaceted issues spanning healthcare, livelihoods, education, climate change, human rights, governance, and beyond.

Fellows embarking on this transformative journey receive:
- A monthly stipend, ensuring financial sustenance throughout the program. Stipends range from INR 18,000 to INR 22,000, depending on the placement location. This ensures that they do not spend anything out of pocket in this journey for accommodation, food, local commute and so on.
- Health insurance coverage is provided by host organisations.
India Fellow Social Leadership Program 2024-25: Program Design
Over the 18-month duration, the fellows are engaged full-time. This includes:
- Working with Communities: India Fellows spend most of their time working at the grassroots with leading social organizations (typically in a rural or a peri-urban setup) committed to bringing positive change. This powerful experience inculcates sensitivity, consciousness, and a deeper understanding of society.
- Training: India Fellow has 8 weeks of residential training, spread across 18 months. All the fellows must come together at a common place for these. This is divided into four parts, every six months into the journey – induction, midpoint, travel workshop, and endpoint.
- Continuous Learning: To ensure a balance between action and reflection, throughout the 18 months, fellows document their observations, experiences and insights as blogs/vlogs/podcasts. There are virtual sessions with mentors, online courses, and collective fundraising. All this builds a holistic understanding of civil society action and develops crucial skills.
- Mentorship: Every fellow is exposed to a pool of mentors, who are experts with deep experience in their domain. Along with that, the fellowship ecosystem consists of facilitators and experienced professionals who are available to interact with the fellows to enrich their experience.
- Fundraising: The cost to select and nurture a fellow through this unique journey is INR 3,00,000. During their 18-month fellowship, the fellows work along with the India Fellow team in a collective fundraiser, to raise this sum for the cohort that follows them.

India Fellow Social Leadership Program 2024-25: Selection Process
The selection of fellows for the India Fellow Social Leadership Program 2024-25 will proceed through the following stages:
- Application: The application gathers all primary information about the applicant. Most answers are subjective, and we need you to answer them after careful consideration.
- Telephonic Conversation: Once you clear the application round, we would like to have a phone call with you for 15- 20 minutes to understand you better and help you learn more about the program.
- Assessment Day: Everyone who clears the above rounds makes it to the assessment day. Here, applicants take part in group activities and sit down with our team one-on-one for a personal interview.
