New Delhi, 19 April 2022: The Government of Haryana has decided to provide scholarships under the SC component and non-SC component scheme to both general as well as SC category players from now on. The scholarship award will now be the same for both category candidates and will be provided for securing medals at state, national, and international levels. With this, the government has removed the previously placed candidature difference by making the scholarship scheme available to both SC and non-SC categories.
Pankaj Nain, Sports Director, Haryana has said that “In an effort to boost players across all categories, we have made scholarships in the general category at par with SC category players except for the Rs 18,000 for participation to SC players and Rs 1,000 extra for female medallists from the state. The scholarships will be given for the preceding year and will be offered in disciplines and events as per the cash award policy of the state”.
Note: The scholarship amount will be the same for both categories, however, SC category sports students will also be provided Rs 18,000 and girl students will be provided Rs 1000 extra for participation.

About Haryana Sports Scholarship Scheme
- At the state level, a scholarship worth Rs 42,000, Rs 36,000, and Rs 30,000 annually will be given to the gold, silver and bronze medallists.
- At the national level, the scholarship scheme will provide financial aid of Rs 60,000 to gold medallists, Rs 48,000 to silver medallists, and Rs 36,000 to bronze medallists.
- At the international level, the government has planned to allocate a scholarship worth Rs 84,000 to gold medal winners, Rs 72,000 to silver medal winners, and Rs 60,000 to bronze medal winners.
- The scholarships will be awarded from the preceding year and will be allocated to disciplines and events in accordance with the cash award policy of the state.
Haryana Sports Scholarship Scheme – Eligibility
- Participants will be deemed eligible on the basis of their sports achievements from 01 April 2021 to 31 March 2022.
- Participants with a family income below Rs 2.50 lakh in the SC category are eligible for the scholarship.
- Participants from the general category with an annual income below Rs 1.80 lakh are eligible for the scholarship.
Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Haryana, Panchkula had earlier recommended 455 tentative sports nurseries on a plan to be launched in the state with an objective to encourage fitness and sports.
