Google scholarship is an initiative of Google Inc. that aims at providing financial support to students who aspire to pursue a career in technology. It is a broad term that comprises a number of scholarships and contests that are available for students worldwide. Every year, Google offers opportunities for school students, women in technology, developers and individuals to create their mark in the technological world. A Google scholarship not only provides the students with financial support but also provides them with an opportunity to learn through workshops and training.

Google Scholarship – Eligibility Conditions

Each Google scholarship comes with a pre-defined set of eligibility conditions. While all the scholarships listed in the table are all applicable for candidates with Indian citizenship, there are some other conditions as well that a student needs to fulfil.   • The scholarship is open only of Indian citizens.
  • The candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Women Techmakers Scholars Program (formerly known as Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship Program)
  • The scholarship is open for female candidates only (including undergraduate or graduate students).
  • They must be enrolled at a recognised university for the current academic year.
  • The students who are graduating in 2019 and beyond can apply for the 2018-19 academic year.
  • They must be pursuing studies in computer science, computer engineering or any other related technical field.
  • They must be able to demonstrate a strong academic record and passion for increasing the involvement of women in computer science.
3. Google Venkat Panchapakesan Memorial Scholarship
  • The scholarship is open for undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in a university/college in India.
  • They must be pursuing a degree programme in computer engineering, computer science or other related fields.
4. Google Conference and Travel Scholarships
  • The scholarship is open for students worldwide.
  • To attend a conference in India, the applicant must be enrolled in a recognised university.
  • He/she must be in need of conference travel fund.
  • They must have a paper accepted with a top-tier conference on computer science.
  • Preference will be given to a conference whose research area is strongly related to Google’s interest.
  • The applicant is required to be the primary author of the accepted paper.
5. Doodle 4 Google India Contest
  • The students of class 1 to 10 are eligible to enter the contest.
  • They need to have permission from their parents/guardians/school teachers.
  • The contest is not open for employees, contractors, interns, officials and the representatives or affiliates.
6. Google India Code to Learn Contest
  • The contest is open for Indian students of class 5 to 10 under the following groups –
    • Class 5 and 6
    • Class 7 and 8
    • Class 9 and 10

(Note: The students can enter the contest only through their respective computer teachers).

Google Scholarship – Application Procedure

Applying for a Google scholarship is simple and easy. Though each scholarship and contest require students to fill different applications, the process to follow for all is online. The application form for each scholarship becomes live for a limited time duration only. Thus, the students are required to keep track of the application timeline and apply before the deadline.   • Financial reward of USD 750 towards the expenses related to tuition and education.
  • An opportunity to visit the headquarters of YouTube in California, USA.
4. Google Conference and Travel Scholarships
  • USD 1,000 to USD 3,000 covering the cost of conference registration, accommodation, travel and other related expenses.
5. Doodle 4 Google India Contest
  • The national winner will receive a college scholarship of INR 5 Lakh, technology package worth INR 2 Lakh, certificate/trophy of achievement and more.
  • The group winners will receive trophy/medal of recognition, certificate of achievement and more.
  • The national finalist will also receive a certificate of achievement.
