Fine Arts Scholarships – Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme

The Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme is the initiative of the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. 

It is designed for students of 10 to 14 years age groups who are either enrolled in a recognized educational institution or come from families practicing traditional performing arts. 

Career Assessment Test

The core objective is to provide specialized training in diverse cultural disciplines, including traditional music, dance, drama, painting, sculpture, crafts, and literary arts, with a particular focus on preserving rare art forms that are at risk of extinction.


  • Applicants should be between 10 and 14 years of age.
  • Applicants should be studying in a recognized school or belong to families practicing traditional performing arts.


  • Selected candidates will be awarded a scholarship amount of ₹3600 per annum.
  • Scholarship recipients will also be eligible for reimbursement of the tuition fees paid to their respective Guru or Teacher.
  • The reimbursement limit for tuition fees stands at a maximum of ₹9,000 per year.

Central Selection Committee (CSC) Meeting:

  • To facilitate the selection of candidates for the subsequent interview/test phase, the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) establishes a Central Selection Committee (CSC).
  • The decisions made by this committee are considered conclusive and binding.
  • Shortlisted candidates will receive communication regarding the interview/test schedule, dates, timings, and venue through postal notifications. 
  • Interviews/tests are typically conducted annually between the months of May and August.

Regional Selection Committee Meeting (RSC):

  • To facilitate the organization of immediate interviews/tests at the regional level, the CCRT establishes a Regional Selection Committee (RSC).
  • The RSC meetings are convened at approximately 20 distinct locations, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all States and Union Territories (UTs).
  • The primary purpose of these meetings is to assess and recommend children for newly awarded scholarships and the extension of existing ones.

The Ministry of Culture is implementing a scheme by the name of ‘Scheme of Scholarship and Fellowship for Promotion of Art and Culture’ to protect all genres of artists including folk song artists. ‘Award of Scholarships to Young Artists in Different Cultural Fields (SYA)’ is one of the components under the Scheme of Scholarship and Fellowship for Promotion of Art and Culture’.   • Candidates should have undergone at least five years of training under their Guru/Institutes.
    • Along with the application, candidates must submit a certificate indicating the duration of their training, bearing the signature of their current Guru/Institute and, if applicable, the signature of their former Guru/Institute.
  • Candidates should possess a satisfactory understanding of the interconnected arts or disciplines relevant to their chosen field.
  • The candidate should be between 18 and 25 years of age as of April 1st of the application year.

Benefits: Throughout the two-year period, each scholar will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000, intended to cover living expenses, travel, books, art supplies, equipment, including tuition or training fees if applicable.

Fine Arts Scholarships – Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarship

The Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarship is an initiative of the Inlaks Foundation. Since 1976, these scholarships have been awarded to Indian students pursuing full-time Master’s, MPhil, or Doctoral Programs at prestigious institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

The scholarship does not cover programs in fields such as Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine, Public Health, Business Studies, and Fashion Design. However, exceptions are made for Western Classical Music and Documentary Filmmaking, exclusively within the domains of Music and Film.


  • Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarships are available to all Indian passport holders who reside in India during the application period.
  • Applicants are generally expected to have an impressive first-class result from previous degrees from a recognized Indian university.
  • Indian passport holders who possess an excellent undergraduate degree from a recognized foreign university must have continuously resided, been employed, or studied in India for a minimum of two years after completing their undergraduate degree.
