Tamil Nadu Scholarship 2023 Eligibility Criteria & Awards
Every scholarship for Tamil Nadu has different eligibility criteria and awards. Hereunder is a list of eligibility criteria for different scholarships and awards given by the scholarship providers.
1) Scholarship to Son and Daughter of Differently Abled Persons, Tamil Nadu
Eligibility
- The wards of any differently-abled person holding the Identity card issued by the Welfare Board of Differently Abled can apply for this scholarship
- This scholarship is applicable for students from Classes 11 to Postgraduate level (including ITI/Polytechnic diploma courses)
Awards
- Financial assistance of up to INR 6,000 per annum
Eligibility
- This scholarship is for differently abled students studying in Classes 9 to postgraduate level (including Vocational, Professional, Medical and Engineering courses)
- The applicant should have scored at least 40% marks in the previous qualifying examination

- Financial assistance of up to INR 7,000 per annum
3) Scholarship for Differently Abled Students towards Purchase of Books & Note Books, Tamil Nadu
Eligibility
- Applicable for differently-abled students
- Students studying in classes 1 to 8

- Scholarship of INR 300 per month (for students of Classes 6 to 8)
4) I. M. C. Dehradun Scholarship, Tamil Nadu

5) Deceased Government Servants Scholarship, Tamil Nadu
Eligibility
- The scholarship is applicable to the wards of deceased government servants who died in harness

6) PhD Scholarship, Tamil Nadu
Eligibility
- The students pursuing the first year, second year or third year of full-time PhD research from a government or government-aided college of arts and science can apply
- An applicant must have scored at least 60% marks in the postgraduate level
- The students who are pursuing a part-time course or are in receipt of any other scholarship are not eligible to apply

Eligibility
- This scholarship is applicable only to girl students
- The students must be pursuing postgraduate degree courses in Arts and Science from a recognised college in TamilNadu

8) Free Education Schemes for BC, MBC & DNC students, Tamil Nadu
Eligibility
- The scholarship is open to students belonging to BC/MBC/DNC category
- A student must be pursuing a polytechnic diploma, a 3-year degree course, or a professional degree
- The annual income of the family must be less than INR 50,000

- Tuition fees, examination fees, special fees and other compulsory fees up to INR 10,000 (approximate)
9) Incentive Scheme for Rural MBC/DNC Girl Students, Tamil Nadu
Eligibility
- This scheme is applicable for rural girl students belonging to MBC/DNC category who are studying in Classes 3 to 6
- The annual income of the family should not be more than INR 25,000

- INR 500 per annum to students of Classes 3 to 5
- INR 1,000 per annum to students of Class 6
10) Thanthai Periyar Memorial Award, Tamil Nadu
Eligibility
- The top two boys and two girls of each district in Tamil Nadu who have scored th highest marks in Class 10 and are pursuing a Polytechnic diploma can apply for this scholarship
- BC/MBC/DNC category students can apply

11) Perarignar Anna Memorial Award, Tamil Nadu
Eligibility
- The top two boys and two girls of each district in Tamil Nadu who have scored the highest marks in Class 12 and are pursuing a Professional degree (medical, engineering, law, etc.) can apply for this scholarship
- The scheme is open only for BC/MBC/DNC students

- INR 3,000 per annum for four years or till the normal completion of the course
12) Vidyadhan Scholarship Program
Eligibility
- The eligible states for the Vidyadhan scholarship are Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala and Telangana
- The applicant must have passed out Class 10/SSLC from the above-mentioned states
- Annual family income must be equal to or less than INR 2 Lakh

- Up to INR 6,000 per annum for Classes 11 and 12
13) National Talent Search Exam NTSE
Eligibility
- The students of Class 10 can apply for this scholarship
Note: The students studying through open schools or distance learning can also apply if they are below the age of 18.

- For PhD students – the amount specified by UGC

The application timeline for the RIMC scholarship is listed below.

- The RIMC scholarship exam date is 1 June 2023 and 2 June 2023
- RIMC scholarship will be declared on September 2023 (Tentative)

The NTSE exam is divided into two parts; Stage 1 is the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), and Stage 2 is the Mental Ability Test (MAT). The mode of both examinations is offline. Below is the detailed exam pattern for SAT and MAT.
NTSE Exam Pattern
Mental Ability Test (MAT)
- It includes questions on logical and analytical reasoning
- MAT consists of 100 questions, and it includes pattern perception, series, coding-decoding, analogies, hidden figures, problem-solving, classifications, etc.
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
- SAT is a set of 100 questions, which is divided such as; Science for 40 marks, Social Science for 40 marks and Mathematics for 20 marks
- SAT exam consists of Classes 9 and 10 syllabuses
- Exactly 120 minutes are given to the students for the examination
- Mostly, the level of questions is equivalent to the class 10 examination
- There is no negative marking in the NTSE-SAT examination
