“Success is a journey, not a destination.” – Ben Sweetland
Yukti Vyas, a young and enthusiastic girl and an exceptionally meritorious scholar of UGAM – Legrand Scholarship Program, seems to have a strong belief in the above-mentioned words of Ben Sweetland. Her definition of success is similar to what has been already said. It is the journey that one takes to reach the ultimate heights of success. Despite belonging to a middle-income family, her strong will power and hard work have helped her to step ahead in the pathway of fulfilling her dreams. She has never let any obstacle overpower her determination.
Want to know more about her journey towards her dreams? Read the excerpts below that have been taken from her interview with Buddy4Study.
Buddy4Study: Share something with us about your academic and professional journey.
I have done my schooling from Vidyasagar School where I have spent 12 most memorable years of my life. With the grace of God, I have been able to perform academically well. I have achieved various milestones throughout my journey. I have recently been awarded a merit certificate and a medal for obtaining the highest marks in a subject in class 12.
Buddy4Study: What motivated you to pursue Engineering?
Ever since I decided to choose Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as my subject for class 12, I was clear in my mind that I want to become an Engineer in the future.
Buddy4Study: What were the challenges faced by you during the course of your journey to reach here?
I have a keen interest in aerobics. I participated in many inter-school, district level and national level aerobic tournaments. However, I had to drop it after my class 10th examination as being a science stream student, it was a bit difficult for me to manage both the academics as well as co-curricular and sports activities.
Buddy4Study: What is your biggest source of inspiration?
Throughout my journey, my parents are my constant source of inspiration. Both my father and mother have always motivated me to do best out of what I have. Perhaps, this is the reason where I am today.
Buddy4Study: How has your family supported you in your venture to pursue this course?
As my father is a teacher and my mother, a housewife, it is difficult for them to afford my education. However, they somehow manage to do that. It is their support only that has given me the strength to face any challenge in life.
Buddy4Study: How did you come to know about the UGAM-Legrand Scholarship Program? What were the steps followed to avail the scholarship?
I came to know about the Legrand scholarship through the newspaper. I visited the link mentioned in it and landed on the Buddy4Study portal. I found the application form for the scholarship and filled it online. I got a confirmation mail from Buddy4Study after which, I had to send all my relevant documents required for the scholarship on the address mentioned in the email.
Buddy4Study: What are your ambitions in the future and how do you plan to execute them?
My ambition is to become an engineer and impart my knowledge and experience to the younger generation. To achieve this, I want to educate myself as much as I can.
Buddy4Study: Any piece of advice that you would like to impart to other potential aspirants like you?
As per the saying of a great author, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” I believe that each word of this statement is true to its best. I think that every individual has some unique quality and they only need to polish it with their hard work. Never stop or step back from challenges as they are the test which life takes on a regular interval. Also, never forget that success is a journey, not a destination. So, keep working and keep improving!
Hope this story of Yukti inspires you to go the extra mile to achieve success. However, if financial constraints are bothering you, look up for scholarships matching your profile and apply for them.
