4 July 2022, New Delhi, Post Matric Scholarship: The SC Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) is one of India’s largest welfare schemes for economically disadvantaged scheduled caste (SC) students. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has directed the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to immediately ensure that students are made aware of the Post Matric Scholarship for SC students and that the renewals match the new registrations received every year.
Renewal is the process by which students continue their scholarship for the next academic year. However, many SC students who applied for renewal had their information mismatched with their registration information. This signifies a huge flaw in the overall PMS Scholarship registration process, of which the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment took notice and acted.
To make sure that SC students across the country become aware of the PMS scholarship, the ministry has also asked UGC and AICTE to issue directives to all the universities, educational institutions, and colleges so that regular meetings can take place under the nodal officers.
