Under Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni scheme, students receive financial assistance (depending on their education level). The application process of the scheme is online, students are required to submit the application form to their respective institutions.
Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni – Objective
- Promote higher education for girls in Assam by increasing enrollment in colleges and universities after Class 10 and Class 12.
- Encourage girls to continue education beyond matriculation, thereby improving the overall female literacy rate in the state.
- Reduce dropout rates among girl students by providing financial and social support at crucial stages of education.
- Improve the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of Assam with special focus on female participation in higher education.
- Prevent child marriage by empowering girls through education and ensuring they stay in the academic system for a longer duration.
Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni – Eligibility Criteria
- Girl students enrolled in government and provincialised (venture) educational institutions in Assam. Students studying in private institutions are not eligible.
- The scheme applies to girls studying in Class 11, graduation first year, postgraduation first year and BEd first year.
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam, irrespective of economic background.
- Beneficiaries must follow institute rules, attend classes regularly, and maintain proper discipline. Any involvement in misconduct, ragging, cheating, vandalism, or indiscipline will lead to cancellation of benefits under the Nijut Moina Scheme.
- Married girl students are not eligible for the scheme, except those enrolled in PG or B.Ed courses.
Note –
1. Exclusion under Other Schemes: Girl students who have received a scooter under the Banikanta Kakati Award (Pragyan Bharati Scheme) are not eligible. However, those who opt out of receiving the scooter may apply for Nijut Moina Scheme.
2. Merged Mobility Grant: The Higher Education Department’s Mobility Grant Scheme has been merged with the Nijut Moina Scheme, and no separate mobility grant will be provided.
3. In-service girls admitted to B.Ed on deputation are not eligible for this scheme.
4. Daughters of Ministers, MPs and MLAs are not eligible to avail benefits under the Mukhyamantrir Nijut Moina Scheme.

Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni – Application Process
Step 1: Visit the official website of the Directorate of Higher Education, Assam.
Step 2: Download the application form of Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni Scheme.
Step 2: Fill in the application form correctly and attach all required documents
Step 3: Submit the completed application form to your respective educational institution
Step 4: The school/college/university verifies the application form and documents
Step 5: After verification, the institution forwards the application to the Higher Education Department for final approval
Step 6: Once approved, the monthly scholarship amount is directly transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account
Note – For continuation in the next year, no fresh application is required; the Head of Institution or Principal submits a continuity certificate on behalf of the student
