Eligibility at a Glance!

  • Score at least 55% in your most recent qualifying examination.
  • Annual family income from all sources must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
  • Indian nationals only, currently enrolled and continuing studies through 2026-27.
  • Diploma/ITI students under School category: only if you enrolled after completing Class 12.
  • Gap year is fine, as long as you submit valid proof of current-year admission.
  • A personal/family crisis in the past 3 years is preferred, not mandatory — proof is needed only if it applies to you.

How to Apply — 6 Steps!

  • Open the programme page and click “Apply Now” for your category (School/UG/PG).
  • Log in to Buddy4Study or register — use only one account per Aadhaar number.
  • Verify Aadhaar via DigiLocker and check every auto-filled detail (name, DOB, gender).
  • Fill the form, selecting the correct education path in Academic Details — this determines which marksheets you’re asked for.
  • Upload documents in the required format/size (see below), accept Terms, and Preview — a blank mandatory field (shown in red) is the most common reason submission fails.
  • Click Submit, then track status on your dashboard under “My Applications.”

Frequently Asked Questions – FAQs!

Curated from the questions raised by the scholarship applicants more often than not. Questions marked ★ MOST ASKED are the highest-volume queries received on the Buddy4Study helpline.

Eligibility

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Q: I’m a diploma/ITI student — which category do I apply under, and am I eligible?

A: Under School, diploma/ITI students are eligible only if they enrolled after completing Class 12. If you have completed a diploma and are now pursuing a graduation course (e.g., lateral entry into B.Tech), apply under the Undergraduate category.

Q: Which scholarship should I apply for — School, Undergraduate, or Postgraduate?

A: Apply for the category matching what you have been enrolled for (2026-27) — not your highest qualification or a future course.

Q: I took a gap year — can I still apply?

A: Yes, as long as you submit valid proof of current-year admission showing you’re continuously pursuing your education.

Q: Is a family or personal crisis compulsory to apply?

A: No. It gives preference in selection, but this is not a mandatory requirement. Upload crisis proof only if it genuinely applies to you.

Application Form

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Q: The form asks for a marksheet (ITI/Diploma/12th/current course) that I don’t have. What should I do?

A: This almost always means the wrong education path was selected in Academic Details. Selecting the correct path (e.g., 10th → 12th → Graduation, or 10th → Diploma/ITI → Graduation) automatically removes fields that don’t apply to you. If you’re in your first year/semester, you only need your previous year’s marksheet (2025-26) — not one from your current course. UG/PG students in later years can upload any one semester marksheet from the previous year.

→ If a field still appears mandatory after correcting your path, email ecss@buddy4study.com with your Application ID and a short explanation.

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Q: The form asks for crisis proof (crop loss, job loss, loan burden) that doesn’t apply to me. Is it mandatory?

A: No — these fields are conditional/optional and only required if that situation applies to you.

→ If a field is still marked mandatory for your profile, email your Application ID with a short explanation.

Q: The “Submit” button doesn’t work even though I’ve filled everything.

A: The most common cause is a mandatory field left blank somewhere, usually highlighted in red.

→ Review every section, complete the highlighted field, and resubmit. If it still fails, email your Application ID with a screenshot of the error.

Q: I made a mistake in my application (details, reference contact, course, or crisis answer). Can I edit it after submitting?

A: Before submission, you can correct it yourself. After submission, the team needs to review the change.

Q: My name/DOB/gender was auto-filled incorrectly from Aadhaar/DigiLocker and the field is locked.

A: Always verify auto-filled details before continuing, since the form must match your documents. Please ensure that the Aadhar details are correct and information shared at the time of application must be exactly the same as it appears in Adhaar.

→ If  the issue persists, please mail your Application ID along with the correct details, and a screenshot.

Documents

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Q: I can’t pay my fees yet, so I have no fee receipt. What can I upload instead?

A: An admission letter, admission confirmation letter, institution ID card, or bonafide certificate for 2026-27 — you only need one of these four.

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Q: Which income proof is accepted?

A: Any one of these: an income certificate from Gram Panchayat/Ward Councillor/Sarpanch, an income certificate from SDM/DM/CO/Tehsildar, or an affidavit.

Q: Can the bank account be in my parent’s name?

A: Yes but that applies to students who are still minors. The passbook or cancelled cheque can be in the applicant’s or a parent’s name, with account number and IFSC clearly visible.

Q: My university only issues semester-wise mark sheets — which one do I upload?

A: Marksheets of both semesters from the previous year (2025-26) are accepted for UG/PG students. If only one semester marksheet is available, applicants can upload one that is available and they should produce and upload when the second semester marksheet is released.

Q: My document isn’t ready yet (result not declared, certificate applied for). What should I do?

A: Upload the latest document you have when you submit, then add the correct one to your ‘My Document Wallet’ once you receive it. If flagged ‘incorrect’ during verification, you’ll be informed and given a chance to re-upload.

Document Verification

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Q: The portal shows “data mismatch” or “conflict” on my document. Why?

A: The details you typed must match what’s printed on your document exactly — differences in name, date of birth, marks, or institution can trigger this.

→ Retype details exactly as on the document. If a genuine difference between two of your own documents is flagged, get it corrected at your end. If you believe the portal misread your document, email a screenshot with your Application ID.

Q: I uploaded the wrong document — how do I replace it?

A: Before final submission: re-upload the correct file in “My Document Wallet” against that field. After submission: email your Application ID and details of the file to be replaced.

Q: What causes rejection at verification?

A: Most common reasons for rejection are as follows: Below 55% marks, discontinuing studies in 2026-27, documents with expired dates, absence of sign and stamp, unattested documents, form details not matching original documents, altered/tampered documents, or documents that don’t belong to you.

Technical & Login

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Q: I get “Duplicate Aadhaar” or “DigiLocker Authentication Failed.”

A: This was a known, temporary issue and has since been fixed. You should not be facing a problem related to duplication.

→ Clear browser cache/cookies or use a different browser/incognito window, then retry. Use only one Buddy4Study account per Aadhaar.

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Q: Documents won’t upload, or I see “Something went wrong at our end.”

A: Usually caused by temporary server load, an unsupported file size/format, or a browser/network issue.

→ Use the exact file format/size shown; use the latest Chrome with a stable connection; avoid rapid repeated attempts; retry after a few minutes. If it repeats over 2-3 attempts on a different day, email the error with a screenshot and your Application ID.

Q: I see “Maximum attempt limit exceeded.”

A: Repeated attempts in quick succession can cause a temporary lock.

→ Wait some time, clear your cache, and try again.

Selection & Deadline

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Q: What is the last date to apply?

A: 31st October 2026, for all three categories — as shown on the official programme page. Always go by the date on the programme page over anything else you may have heard. However, extension of application deadline does happen and it is solely based on the discretion of the scholarship provider.

Q: Can I get more time to submit a document?

A: No separate document deadline has been announced. Upload the latest document you have before the application deadline, and add the correct one to My Document Wallet once available.

Q: How are scholars selected, and why wasn’t I selected?

A: Shortlisting by academic merit and financial need → document verification → personal interview → final selection. It’s competitive; individual scores aren’t published.

Scholarship & Renewal

Q: When will I receive the scholarship amount?

A: A disbursement timeline hasn’t been announced. Keep your bank details correct and your account active — updates will come via registered email/mobile.

Q: Will I get the scholarship again next year, and what documents will I need?

A: Continued support depends on meeting renewal and eligibility criteria each year — it’s reassessed annually, not automatic. You’ll need your current year’s marksheet, updated income proof, fresh admission/fee proof, and continued proof of any originally reported crisis.

Common Mistakes to Avoid!

  • Choosing the wrong education path in Academic Details.
  • Applying under the wrong category (e.g., School instead of Undergraduate).
  • Uploading a marksheet from the wrong year — it must be 2025-26.
  • Uploading last year’s fee receipt instead of 2026-27 admission proof.
  • Typing details that don’t match your documents, or trusting auto-fill blindly.
  • Uploading blurry, dark, or cropped files where key details can’t be read.
  • Creating more than one Buddy4Study account for the same Aadhaar.
  • Waiting until the last day, when the portal is busiest.
