The Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana (MYSY), run by the Government of Gujarat, supports students who join degree and professional courses after Class 12. To apply as a fresh degree student, you need:
1. At least 80 percentile in Class 12 (Science or General stream). Note that the rule uses percentile, not percentage.
2. An annual family income of up to โน6 lakh.
3. Gujarat domicile.
MYSY covers 50% of the tuition fee, up to โน50,000 a year for engineering and pharmacy courses and up to โน2 lakh a year for medical courses. Students can also check other state scholarships on the Digital Gujarat portal.
What Std 12 Students Should Do Now
1. Plan for a late February start. Aim to finish the syllabus by December, so that January is free for revision and preliminary exams.
2. Prepare for practicals early. Science students should complete their practical files and journals before February, as practicals come before the theory papers.
3. Practise with previous years’ papers. Writing full papers in 3 hours and 15 minutes helps you manage time in the exam hall.
