How the CBSE Class 10 Compartment/Improvement Exam 2027 Works

Under the revised CBSE Board Exam framework, there is no separate compartment exam session for Class 10 outside the regular exam calendar. Instead:

1. Students who could not clear one or more subjects in the Phase 1 exam (February–March) automatically get another chance in the Phase 2 exam (May), which acts as their compartment attempt.

2. Students who passed Phase 1 but want to improve their score can also reappear in up to three subjects out of Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages during Phase 2.

3. The board retains the best of the two scores for each subject attempted twice, and this is reflected in the final marksheet.

4. Students who failed in three or more subjects in Phase 1 are not eligible to appear in Phase 2 and will need to repeat the full academic year.
