New Delhi, 10, December, 2021: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has recently released three more scholarship schemes for selected students. These three scholarships are Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for Colleges and University Students (CSSS), Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu & Kashmir (SSS for J&K) and Central Sector Interest Subsidy Scheme (CSIS). The government has launched these schemes to assist meritorious students from underprivileged backgrounds, enabling them to pursue quality education.
AICTE Scholarships – Details
AICTE scholarships, run by the Government of India, are offered for the betterment of underprivileged students. AICTE already has a number of scholarships catering to different student needs.
Recently, AICTE has implemented three schemes to assist meritorious students from poor financial backgrounds and to ensure that no one from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) is denied access to higher education.
These schemes are:
1. Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for Colleges and University Students (CSSS)
The “Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students” has been implemented by the Department of Higher Education since 2008. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to meritorious students so that they are able to meet their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies.
Eligibility:
- Students who are above 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination in Class 12
- Students pursuing intermediate study (Class 12) from the Central Board of Secondary Education of India (CBSE) or the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).
- Students with family income less than INR 6,00,000 per annum and who are not receiving any other scholarship at the moment.

2. Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu & Kashmir (SSS for J&K)
“Special Scholarship Scheme” (SSS) is an initiative for Class 12-passed students and diploma/degree holders in J&K and Ladakh. The scholarship aims to support the youth of J&K in pursuing higher education outside the state.
It facilitates the access of quality education to students so as to equip them with knowledge, skills, experience, and training for higher academic level/profession. The students selected for SSS can benefit from a scholarship of up to INR 3 lakh per annum.
Eligibility:
- Students who are natives of Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh
- Students who have passed Class 12 from the J&K Board (JKBOSE) or CBSE-affiliated schools located in UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
- Students with an annual family income less than INR 8,00,000.

3. Central Sector Interest Subsidy Scheme (CSIS)
“Central Sector Interest Subsidy Scheme” benefits all categories of economically weaker students for pursuing professional/technical courses in India. It intends to provide affordable higher education and aims to uplift students from the grassroot level and increase the number of qualified technicians/professionals in the nation.
Eligibility:
- Students pursuing technical/professional courses in India are eligible.
- Students whose annual gross parental/family income is up to INR 4, 50,000 are eligible.
