New Delhi, 27 Nov 2018: A total of 25 girl scholars were felicitated with EROS Abhilasha Scholarship 2018 in a ceremony held in New Delhi on November 27. Each of the scholars received INR 5000 as a one-time scholarship and a certificate from Mr. Avneesh Sood, Director of EROS Group.
The 25 scholars belonged to the list of 100 girls selected for Abhilasha scholarship this year. The scholars studying in class 9 to 12 were selected from among 3000 applicants from all over India. The felicitation ceremony was held to distribute the scholarship amount to the scholars who came from Delhi-NCR region.
With the objective to financially help the underprivileged girl children in pursuing their dream career, EROS Group vetted the students on the basis of their merit and need. Mr. Sood who felicitated the students encouraged them to keep applying for more scholarships like Abhilasha. He said, “This is the first time that EROS Group has contributed for an educational cause. In fact, the idea for this campaign came to me when I personally interacted with an auto-driver and his daughter. It is incredible to see that the program received 3000 applications pan-India within 15 days of application announcement. We wish to continue the program for the next year on a larger scale. We hope, our scholarship will help many more underprivileged students next year.”
The scholars present at the ceremony expressed gratitude for the financial support they received from EROS group.
Isha, who came from Haryana, said, “I am a trained under-16 wrestler and wish to follow a career in wrestling. This scholarship amount will help me fund my training.” Similarly, Muskan, the daughter of a school teacher, said that she wants to be a bank manager.
The scholarship also came as a help to many parents. Father of Anu who was among the scholars felicitated at the ceremony, said, “I am a single parent and at times, it becomes difficult to manage all the finances. This scholarship is a relief as it will help my daughter to pursue her dream of becoming an IAS officer. This scholarship seems as the stepping stone towards that dream.”
