Operation Digital Blackboard to be a part of every school soon

Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday inaugurated a two-day National Workshop on School Education and said one Operation Digital Blackboard will be there in every school in the next few years.

''Earlier, there was Operation Blackboard and now Operation Digital Board will be there across the country in the few years,'' the HRD minister said, adding, “It will not lessen the role of teachers as no teacher is less important; teacher is needed for explanation, for making the things understandable.”

Stressing on digital education Javadekar said, ''Schools, educational institutions whether public/private, NGOs, all are doing fine and there is a need to bring them under one roof so that a good content comes out of it. Apps such as BYJU where courses are available online, are doing a good job.''

Emphasizing that education is a national agenda, Javadekar said that education holds no meaning without physical activities in a student’s life.

''Physical education and life skill education is equally important for a student. A student should not limit himself to a book. Human values make the purpose of education meaningful, he said.

''Education is not a state subject; we all are stakeholders (students/teachers/parents/principals) and have equal responsibility,'' the HRD minister said.

To bring together key stakeholders from various NGOs, private sector and individuals to deliberate on key themes in the education sector, the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) is organizing a two-day National Workshop on School Education from November 6, 2017 in the national capital.

The workshop was attended by HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, Minister of State for School Education & Literacy Upendra Kushwaha and Minister of State for Higher Education Dr Satya Pal Singh.

Apart from the three ministers, the workshop will also have other eminent dignitaries such as Secretary and Special Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy & other Senior Officers of MHRD as well Principal Secretaries/Secretaries of States.

The workshop for two days will focus on the five themes of Digital Education, Physical Education, Value Education, Life Skills Education and Experiential Learning.

A total of 157 organizations/experts will be making their point via presentations.
