Eligibility Criteria for TS POLYCET Exam 2025
Students are required to fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria to appear for the the TS POLYCET:
General Eligibility for All Courses:
- The candidate shall be an Indian National.
- The candidate should belong to the State of Telangana and should complete the Local/Non-Local/Unreserved status requirements as laid down in the Telangana/Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulations of Admissions) Order, 1974, as subsequently amended and as specified in relevant Government Orders (e.g., G.O.Ms.No.16, Higher Education (TE) Department, dated: 17-03-2025).
- Candidates must have passed the SSC Examination conducted by the Telangana State Board of Secondary Education, or an equivalent examination recognized by the same board. Recognized equivalent examinations include:
- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
- Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE)
- National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
- Telangana Open School Society (TOSS)
- Class 10 exams conducted by other State Boards in India
- Candidates must have scored at least 35% marks in the qualifying exam and, where applicable, must have passed the required subjects.
- Candidates who have appeared or are appearing for the SSC or equivalent examination being held in March/April 2025, and whose results are yet to be declared, are also eligible to appear for POLYCET-2025.
- There is no age restriction for appearing for POLYCET-2025. However, the maximum eligible age for obtaining a scholarship will be subject to the guidelines issued by the Social Welfare (Edn.) Department from time to time.
Note: Merely appearing for POLYCET-2025 and obtaining a merit rank does not automatically entitle a candidate to be considered for admission unless the candidate fulfills all the requirements laid down for admission.
Specific Eligibility Criteria:
For Admission into SBTET Polytechnics:
- Candidates must have passed SSC or an equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Candidates from equivalent examinations must have passed all subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, with a minimum of 35% marks in each.
For Admission into PJTAU and SKLTGHU Diploma Courses:
- Candidates seeking admission should produce certificate(s) from the Heads of Institution(s) confirming that they have studied for a minimum period of 4 years in schools located in Non-Municipal areas during their study from 1st to 10th class (any four years). The relevant information must be filled in the proforma prescribed in Annexure-IX and duly signed by the Head of the institution concerned with the office seal. Failure to do so will result in the rejection of the candidate’s claim.
- Candidates should have passed the SSC Examination or an equivalent examination with Science as one of the subjects and obtained at least 35% marks in the qualifying examination. Candidates from equivalent examinations must have passed all subjects, including Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, with a minimum of 35% marks in each.
- Candidates who have completed 15 years of age as of the year of admission and do not exceed 22 years of age as on December 31, 2025 are eligible.
- Candidates who have higher education (10+2 or above) are not eligible for SKLTGHU Diploma courses.
- The Diploma courses offered by the Universities (PJTAU and SKLTGHU) are currently not equivalent to Intermediate or any other vocational courses offered by the Board of Intermediate Education, Telangana. Selected candidates must pay the prescribed fees immediately. The detailed fee structure will be available on the respective University websites along with the admission notification (for SKLTGHU, specifically www.tsvu.nic.in).
Working Employee Candidates: Working employee candidates must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective organizations.

How to Apply for TS POLYCET Exam 2025
Applicants can follow the below steps to apply for the TS POLYCET entrance exam.
Step 1: Visit the official website of TS POLYCET (www.polycet.sbtet.telangana.gov.in/#).
Step 2: Navigate to the ‘Application’ option on the above right-hand side of the dashboard and click on the ‘Registration’ button.

Points to Remember:
- Candidates seeking admission to Government Polytechnics must pay an additional ₹1,000 towards polytechnic development and maintenance fees, in addition to the fees listed above.
- The fee applicable at the time of admission in all Polytechnics will be as fixed by the Government.
- SC/ST candidates are exempted from the payment of fees if their parents’ annual income is within ₹2,00,000. A certificate issued by the concerned Mandal Revenue Officer (M.R.O.) must be produced as proof. However, these candidates must pay the admission fee, syllabus book fee, board recognition fee, and Alumni fee.
- BC/EBC/Minority/Physically handicapped candidates are exempted from the payment of fees if their parents’ annual income is within ₹1,00,000. A certificate issued by the concerned Mandal Revenue Officer (M.R.O.) must be produced as proof. However, these candidates must pay the Admission Fee, Syllabus Book fee, Board Recognition fee, and Alumni fee.
- The Government has mandated linking scholarship applications with the Aadhaar number for direct benefit transfer.
- Candidates eligible for fee exemption must apply for fee reimbursement online through the e-pass/website. However, the Government orders in effect at the time of admissions will be applicable.
- Candidates attending admission counseling must pay the registration and counseling fee as per the separate notification issued for counseling.
- Once the admission process is complete, requests for changes in course or institution will not be permitted.
- The tuition fee for Government, Aided, Private, and Un-Aided Polytechnics, including those within Engineering Colleges, is under revision for the academic year 2025-26.

Below is the reservation of seats for courses offered by the State Board Of Technical Education & Training (SBTET).
(a) Reservation for SC/ST/BC Candidates in Non-Minority Institutions:
Reservation of seats in favor of SC/ST/BC (A, B, C, D, E) candidates in non-minority institutions will be as per the following percentages:

(b) EWS Reservation:

(d) Reservation for Government Minority Polytechnics (Badangpet – Women):
All seats in the Government Minority Polytechnic at Badangpet (for Women) are reserved for minority candidates.
Candidates claiming consideration under the Minority Community must submit a photocopy of their school leaving certificate issued by the Head of Institution (indicating their minority status) at the time of counseling or provide a Transfer Certificate with the religion column clearly mentioned.
In all non-minority co-educational institutions, 33.33% of the total seats within each reservation category are horizontally reserved for female candidates. If sufficient female candidates are not available to fill these reserved seats, they will be offered to male candidates of the same category.
(e) Reservation for Anglo-Indians:
Two (2) seats are reserved in polytechnics for Anglo-Indian candidates from the academic year 1994-95 onwards, as per G.O.Ms. No. 173 Edn. (TE-1) Dept., dated 15-06-1994. Candidates claiming reservation under the Anglo-Indian community must produce a community certificate issued by a Revenue official not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar of their place of residence.
(f) Reservation for Special Categories:
Reservations are available for candidates belonging to NCC, Sports and Games, Physically Challenged (Handicapped), and Children of Armed Personnel categories. These are applied as horizontal reservations within each of the Open/SC/ST/BC categories, up to the specified percentages.
(g) Horizontal Reservation:
Horizontal reservation, up to the percentages mentioned for each special category, is applicable within each vertical reservation category (Open/SC/ST/BC).
(h) Specific Horizontal Reservations:
- NCC (National Cadet Corps): A reservation of 1% is allocated for candidates in a specific category. The order of priority for these candidates will be determined according to the guidelines outlined in Government Order (GO) Ms.No.21 HE (TE-1) Dept., Dt.13-05-2002. Further details can be found in Annexure VIII.
- Sports: A 0.5% reservation is available for a specific candidate category, requiring certificates from Central or State Government-constituted event organizers. Only participation in games and sports before qualifying exams is considered, with admission-time rules determining priority. Refer to Annexure VIII for details.
- Physically Handicapped (PH): 3% reservation is available for Physically Handicapped candidates, distributed as 1% each for Visually Handicapped, Hearing Impaired, and Orthopedically Handicapped individuals, as per G.O.Ms.No.130 dated 06-09-2000. However, candidates with Muscular dystrophy, Deaf and dumbness, Blindness, and mental retardation are not eligible for admission under this category. Further details can be found in Annexure VIII.

Children of Armed Personnel (CAP): 2% seat reservation is available for children of ex-servicemen and defense personnel (including BSF and CRPF) whose parents are Telangana domicile as per their service records. Eligibility requires a certificate from the Sainik Welfare Board (Director/Zilla level) confirming their category, with supporting documents as per Annexure – X.
Priority and merit are determined by G.O.Ms.No.192 and its amendment G.O.Ms.No.370 (see Annexure – X).
In case of ties within a priority, POLYCET merit rank will be used. Special reservation seats cannot be exchanged, and any remaining seats will be filled by general candidates of the same reservation.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus for TS POLYCET 2025
The TS POLYCET examination will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes duration, consisting of only one paper based on the syllabus for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology of Class 10 (S.S.C.) Examination held in academic year 2024-2025, as decided by the Board of Secondary Education, Telangana State.
The will be conducted for a total of 150 marks, with the distribution being 60 marks for Mathematics, 30 marks for Physics, 30 marks for Chemistry, and 30 marks for Biology.
The duration of this examination is 2 and a half hours, from 11:00 AM to 01:30 PM. Candidates aspiring for admission into the Agricultural and Veterinary Diploma Courses offered by PJTAU, PVNRTVU, and SKLTGHU are required to attempt the Biology questions as part of this examination.

Two separate Ranks will be generated for MPC (120 Marks) and MBiPC Streams. MBiPC ranks will be generated by scaling down the Maths marks to 30.
The question paper consists of 150 questions, each with a choice of four responses, out of which only one is correct.

- Candidates seeking admission to Diploma courses offered by PJTAU, SKLTVGHU, and PVNRTVU will receive an MBiPC Rank, calculated from their marks in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Points to Remember:
- In case of a tie in marks secured by candidates, rank may be considered as follows:
a) For Admission into Polytechnics: Ranks will be determined primarily by marks in Maths, and then by marks in Physics if there is a tie. If a tie remains, the older candidate will be given the higher rank.
b) For Agricultural Polytechnics of Prof. Jayashankar Agricultural University, Hyderabad and Veterinary Polytechnics of PVNRTVU, Hyderabad: Ranking will be based primarily on marks in Biology, then Physics, and finally Chemistry. In case of a tie, the candidate’s date of birth as it appears on the S.S.C. certificate will be considered, with older candidates ranked higher.
If the tie is still unresolved, the candidate with the higher percentage of marks in the qualifying examination will be assigned the better rank.

General Guidelines for TS POLYCET Examination 2025
- Candidates should not bring logarithmic tables, calculators, pagers, cell phones, or any other supporting electronic gadgets into the Examination Hall. Any candidate found in possession of any forbidden material will be sent out of the examination hall and may also lead to the cancellation of the candidate’s performance.
- Candidates must remain seated in their allotted places until the completion of the Examination. Before leaving, candidates must return the response sheet/answer sheet and may take away the Question Paper Booklet.
- Every Candidate appearing for POLYCET shall be provided with a specially designed Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Response Sheet (Answer Sheet), on which the candidate shall have to mark their answers and other relevant data. The method of marking the answers is illustrated in this section. Candidates are advised to go through the instructions given for marking the answers and other entries on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) response sheet thoroughly and practice the same at their residence, which would make it easy for them to answer in the Examination Hall.
- Further, candidates are advised not to scribble or make any marks on the response sheet except for marking the answers and other relevant data at the appropriate place on the response sheet. Any violation of these instructions will automatically lead to the disqualification of the Candidate.
- Candidates shall note that they will not be given a second blank Optical Mark Reader (OMR) response sheet under any circumstances. Hence, they are advised to be very careful while handling the OMR response sheet.
- Candidates shall read the instruction sheet carefully before starting to answer the questions.
- The question paper booklet given to the Candidates shall consist of 150 multiple-choice type questions in Four (04) different sections, with four responses given to each question. Only one response is correct for each given question. Candidates shall mark the correct answer in the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) response sheet by shading the appropriate circle darkly with an HB pencil only. They should not use a ballpoint pen for this purpose under any circumstances.
- Candidates shall be required to indicate their Hall ticket number on the Optical mark reader (OMR) response sheet. This shall be done as demonstrated by shading the appropriate circles.
- Candidates are requested to answer all questions. All questions carry equal marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
Hall Ticket to Appear for Examination
- The hall ticket issued to you should be checked thoroughly. If any mistake is found, it should be corrected through the coordinating center immediately, and a revised hall ticket obtained.
- Candidates will not be allowed to appear for the examination with incorrect data or photo on the hall ticket.
- In case a candidate did not receive their hall ticket, they may obtain it from the website: www.polycet.sbtet.telangana.gov.in
- The hall ticket is non-transferable. Any tampering of the hall ticket will automatically lead to the candidate’s disqualification.
- The hall ticket is an important document and should be preserved carefully after the examination until the admission into the polytechnic is completed.
- Candidates will be allowed entry at the designated examination center only upon production of a printed hall ticket. Familiarize yourself with the location of the examination center. You can use the SBTET TS mobile app (Android) to find the route map to the examination center.
- Urdu medium candidates are allotted a separate center where assistance for translation will be provided during the examination. This will only be done if the candidate expressed their willingness to appear in Urdu medium in the application form. Such candidates must write the examination at the Urdu Medium Centre at Govt. Polytechnic, Masabtank, Hyderabad- 500 028.
Rejection of Candidature
The applicant’s candidature is liable for rejection on the following grounds:
- The application form is incomplete, including missing signature of the candidate and parent(s)/guardian(s), and/or photograph of the candidate.
- The candidate furnishes false or incorrect information.
- The candidate fails to satisfy the eligibility conditions.
- In case the application is rejected, no correspondence will be entertained with the candidate, nor will the fee paid be refunded.
