New Delhi, September 12, 2022 – The West Bengal government has launched a portal for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2022. In addition, they have also lowered the eligibility criteria for this scholarship scheme. As per the updated eligibility criteria, students who have scored 60% or more in Class 10 (Madhyamik) and Class 12 (Higher Secondary) can apply for the SVMCM Scholarship 2022.
On September 2, 2021, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that there will be an ease in the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship eligibility criteria, so that more students can be benefitted.
Update: Registration for SVMCM Fresh and Renewal applications has started for 2022-23 session (Only for Class 11 and Class 12). The registration opening date was August 17, 2022. The closing date has not been announced yet.
Details of SVMCM Scholarship Scheme
- The Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means scholarship amount varies from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 8000 per month.
- The scholarship is given to meritorious students belonging to economically backward families to pursue higher studies.
- The amount benefits the students of Class 11 and 12, and students at the undergraduate level in science, arts and commerce, engineering, medical and technical or professional courses, studying in regular mode.
- Postgraduate-level students, along with those pursuing M.Phil. and Doctoral courses from state-aided institutions, also come under the purview of the scholarship scheme.
