Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021 – WB Govt. Reduces Eligibility Criteria, Last Date Soon

New Delhi, 22 November 2021 – The West Bengal government has launched a portal for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021. In addition, they have also lowered the eligibility criteria for this scholarship scheme. As per the updated eligibility criteria, students who have scored 65% or more in Class 10 (Madhyamik) and Class 12 (Higher Secondary) can apply for the SVMCM Scholarship 2021.

Around September 2021, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that there will be an ease in the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship eligibility criteria 2021  so that more students can be benefitted. West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu, while launching the 2021 scholarship scheme portal, added that till now the state has disbursed more than INR 7 lakhs (exactly INR 7,62,858) to students under this scholarship scheme.

Details of SVMCM Scholarship Scheme

  • The Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means scholarship amount varies from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 8000 per month.
  • The scholarship is given to meritorious students belonging to economically backward families to pursue higher studies.
  • The amount benefits the students of Class 11 and 12, and students at the undergraduate level in science, arts and commerce, engineering, medical and technical or professional courses, studying in regular mode. 
  • Postgraduate-level students, along with those pursuing M.Phil. and Doctoral courses from state-aided institutions, also come under the purview of the scholarship scheme.
