Currently enrolled in a Government Medical College, Nitheesh Kr is preparing to become a doctor. His dreams received a significant boost after he was selected for the Marubeni India Meritorious Scholarship. We got in touch with him to know more about his journey. Here’s what he has to say:
Buddy4Study: Tell us a little about your academic background and professional journey.
Nitheesh: I am pursuing MBBS from a Government Medical College under the merit quota. I scored good marks in the Pre-University College which helped me get the merit quota. Before that, I was able to bag a free seat in the Pre-University College because of my performance in Secondary School Examination.
I am very happy in pursuing this professional course. Although it was tough in the beginning, I started enjoying it as the days passed. It has helped me keep going and continue working towards completing my MBBS.
Buddy4Study: Why did you choose to pursue MBBS?
Nitheesh: Ever since I was in school, I always dreamt of becoming a doctor. It is a very noble profession and allows us to serve other people. I chose MBBS because I want to help people by solving their problems.
Buddy4Study: What key challenges did you face during your journey till here?
Nitheesh: There were many challenges that I had to face. Being from a remote area brought up its own set of problems. In our state, we need to clear the CET exam to get a seat in a medical college. In my native place, there were no institutions which prepare students for various entrance exams. So, I had to regularly commute to other places for studying. Also, the college fee was very high. I scored 97% marks in my Secondary School Examination to get a free seat in the Pre-University College. I performed well in the Pre-University too and got enrolled in the Government Medical College under merit quota.
Buddy4Study: What has been your source of inspiration?
Nitheesh: I like the medical field very much. In this field, you can serve others without being dependent on anyone else. This was the inspiration in choosing this field of study.
Buddy4Study: How did your family support you in pursuing this course?
Nitheesh: If I am studying MBBS, it is because of my family. Despite all the problems, they provided me with everything that I needed for my studies. I am thankful to my family for their unconditional support.
Buddy4Study: Who told you about the Marubeni India Meritorious Scholarship? How did you avail the scholarship?
Nitheesh: I came to know about the Marubeni India Meritorious Scholarship through Buddy4Study. I applied online for the scholarship through Buddy4Study’s portal. I was then shortlisted for the telephonic interview. After clearing the telephonic round, I was invited for the face-to-face interview. The interviewer talked personally to me and also verified my documents that I uploaded during online application. I cleared the personal interview and was invited to an award ceremony where they awarded me the scholarship.
Buddy4Study: What are your future plans? How will you execute them?
Nitheesh: I am planning to do my Postgraduation in Radiology. In order to prepare for the entrance exam, I’m planning to join coaching classes.
