Eighteen thousand applications are received till now for ECET 2014. This was informed by ECET chairman Dr. Tulasi Ram Das. He spoke to journalists in Kakinada yesterday. Engineering common entrance test is conducted for admitting Polytechnic students into engineering courses. As per the decision of Higher education council, the candidates who quality in ECET 2014 will be admitted into the second year of engineering courses in university colleges in Andhra Pradesh.
Five percent of engineering seats in university colleges in Andhra Pradesh will be allotted to ECET qualified candidates. ECET is going to be held on Mary 10. After the results are announced, OMR sheets of candidates will also be made available online. applications for ECET 2014 can be submitted without late fee till March 29. Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University will conduct ECET 2014 for the students who studied Polytechnic and BSc mathematics graduates are also eligible to apply. The notification was released on February 2 and the sale of applications began on February 10. Candidates can upload their applications without any fine till March 29. Applications will also be accepted with Rs. 500 fine till April 12; with Rs. 1000 fine till April 29. Hall tickets can be downloaded from the official website from May 2. ECET 2014 will be held on May 10 from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. Results are going to be announced on May 19. Rank cards can be downloaded on May 26.
While submitting the applications, candidates must take a printout of the application as this has to be produced at the examination hall. The test will be conducted in English. The entrance test will consists of questions for 200 marks. Maximum marks for Mathematics will be 50. Physics and chemistry are given 25 marks each. These three sections are common to all branches. The separate question paper will be given for each branch of engineering. This question paper will be for 100 marks. Subjects for the test for Pharmacy students are Pharmaceuticals, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology. BSc Mathematics candidates will be given question paper with subjects Mathematics, analytical ability, communicative English.
