Financial backup is a major concern which has stopped girls in the rural part of West Bengal to opt for higher education. The rickshaw pullers, farmers, shoemakers and daily working class work hard so that they could fill the stomach of all their family members and loved ones at home. After a long day of hard work, the daily working class ends up with 100 to 200 rupees in his pocket, enough to fill the stomach of his loved ones back at home.
The girls from the weaker section of the society may have a strong zeal to pursue their higher education but their pockets may not allow them. The overall education in Bengal says that we still lack the infrastructure and the core resources which can ease out education in villages and towns in India.
To motivate the girls both from villages and town to pursue their higher education the Govt. of India along with many nonprofit organization have taken keen interest to bring education in every house in West Bengal.
DITO Foundation is one of the leading a non-profit organization which has been providing Merit Scholarship Program meritorious girls of West Bengal who have completed their class 12 from West Bengal and have got 80% or more in the exam.
Looking at the poverty side, The DITO foundation in Bengal has decided to that the scholarship should be provided to the family who has family income from all sources not more than Rs. 60,000 per annum.
DITO foundation has kept the award of up to 1 lakh rupees and will submit the scholarship amount directly to the institute in which the girl child is studying her graduation course. The DITO Foundation has given special preference to the physically handicapped girls, single mother’s girls, girls in any other socially disadvantageous position or any other similar situations. Once shortlisted the girl candidate will be selected for telephonic round interview and then to final face to face interview round.
