Ultimate guide to prepare for SAT

One of the most important entrance exams for getting admission to a US university is SAT. Created by the College Board, the SAT is used by most colleges and universities in the US to make admission decisions.  If you plan to attend any of the exceptional universities in USA, you need a good SAT score to qualify.

Considering the importance of the exam, you would be well advised to prepare for it in advance rather than leaving your preparations for the last minute. So, how exactly do you prepare for SAT entrance test?

Well, to help you get started on your quest to get admission to your dream college, here we have some important tips on how to prepare for your SAT:

Gain complete knowledge on SAT: The first step is always research. Find all the information you can about the test: What the SAT is? How it is scored? What score you need? Know the answers to all these questions before you move to the next step.

Taking practice tests: Practice makes a man perfect. Therefore, nothing can prepare you for the SAT like actually taking the test. There are online practice papers and even books in the market which will help you to know your strong and weak points. On the basis of this analysis, you will be aware of your target areas.

Read properly: While solving the practice papers, you should also practice reading articles on unfamiliar subject matters before the test. While reading the article in a flow, stop for a minute and try to identify the author’s argument. This would help you for the SAT reading comprehension passage section.

Studying vocabulary: Studying vocabulary is a really easy way to increase your SAT score, as it helps the examiner to know that you are good in the language. The best way to learn vocabulary is to use flashcards and keep them handy for revision.

Write essays as much as you can: As E L Doctorow said “Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go”. Practice writing on various topics as the essay will always be the first section of the SAT test, and it’ll always be 25 minutes long. Make yourself an expert so that you can write and proof read within that time.

Learn calculating tricks: Solving lengthy equations in a short duration can become a hectic task, but do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. There are so many websites which can help you in learning calculation tricks which will help you to solve the difficult problems in a very short duration.

Stay cool and stress free: Your entrance exam will help you achieve your goal of getting a good college. So just be calm and don’t take stress. Remember, there is nothing more active and efficient than a stress-free mind.
