Post Matric Scholarship for Minorities – Objective

The economic and social background of a family can be a major factor in determining the flow of opportunities for a student. More often than not, many deserving meritorious students miss out on some good opportunities due to the sole reason of belonging to an economically weaker section. This leads to an unfair situation that further causes wastage of talent.

The post-matric scholarship for minorities launched by the Government of India serves the purpose of providing financial support to meritorious but financially disadvantaged students. Through this scholarship, the government aims to increase the rate of attainment of higher education among students belonging to minority communities.

Post Matric Scholarship for Minorities – Benefits

The scholarship will offer financial support to deserving students for pursuing studies in India in a government or private higher secondary school/college/university, including residential institutes of the Government and eligible private institutes selected and notified in a transparent manner by the State Government/Union Territory Administration concerned. The scholarship also covers other technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes/Industrial Training Centres affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) of classes 11- and 12-level including Polytechnics and other courses.

This scholarship, however, does not cover any course less than a duration of 1 year. Moreover, the certificate courses are also outside the scope of this scholarship.
