Tuition Fees and Examination Fees to SBC Students, Maharashtra 2023-24 is an initiative of the VJNT, OBC, and SBC Welfare Department, Government of Maharashtra, to financially help students studying in Class 11 to Ph.D. level. The scholarship aims to create opportunities for SBC-category students to pursue higher education. The selected students will receive 100% tuition fees and exam fee reimbursement.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must:

    • be a domicile of Maharashtra
    • belong to the Special Backward Classes (SBC) category
    • be studying in Class 11 to Ph.D. level in a government-approved institution
    • have taken admission in degree courses in Health Science (Medical, Dental, Homeopathy, Unani, Ayurveda, Physiotherapy, Business Aid, Nursing) in government-aided/private non-aided/private permanently non-aided courses
    • have an annual family income of less than or equal to ₹8,00,000 

    Note:- Students must have taken admission through the CAP process (for professional courses).

    Benefits

    The selected candidates will receive the following benefits:

    • If a student is admitted to a medical or dental college through the Association of Managements of Unaided Private Medical and Dental Colleges entrance examination or through a government common entrance examination, they are eligible for free tuition.
    • Freeship is also applicable to students admitted to unaided colleges, government and aided colleges with technical education, polytechnics, and government unaided professional courses.
    • Students who have been admitted through the government quota to private unaided or permanently unaided institutes are also eligible for freeship.
    • Students pursuing D.Ed or B.Ed courses are eligible for 100% tuition and exam fee reimbursement.

     

    Note:- Students who have been admitted to Deemed University for professional courses won’t get the benefit of a scholarship/freeship.

    • Caste certificate issued by a competent authority
    • Income certificate/Income declaration issued by a competent authority
    • Caste validity certificate (for professional courses)
    • Marksheet of HSC or SSC or last examination
    • Gap certificate
    • CAP allotment letter (for professional courses)
    • Leaving certificate
    • Ration card to identify the number of children in the family
    • Declaration certificate of parents/guardians about the number of children beneficiaries
    How can you apply?

    Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps: 
    Step 1:
     Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
    Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
    Step 3: Click on the 'New Applicant Registration' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard. 
    Step 4: Fill in all required details, and verify the email and phone number.
    Step 5: Complete the Aadhaar authentication process either through OTP or biometrics. 
    Step 6: After completing the authentication process, fill in all the required details to the 'Register' button.
    Step 7: Now, click the 'Applicant login' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard.
    Step 8: Log in using the username and password. 
    Step 9: Fill in the necessary details, upload the specified documents, and submit.

Selection Criteria

The candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria.

Terms and Conditions
  • Students can apply for the freeship for one educational course at a time. 
  • The start date of the application depends upon the applicant's first day at the college/Institute and the end date of the application depends upon the last date of examination.
  • The applicants will be eligible for the freeship if they are admitted through the Association of Managements of Unaided Private Medical and Dental colleges entrance examination or through the government common entrance examination.
  • Freeship will be applicable to unaided colleges/government and aided colleges with technical education/Polytechnic and government unaided professional courses,
  • The applicants who have been admitted through government quota in private un-aided/permanently un-aided institutes can avail the benefits of freeship
  • If the applicants fail in a particular year then they will receive the tuition fees and exam fees of that academic year but they will not be eligible to avail of the benefit until they get promoted to the next higher class.
  • The applicants will not be eligible for the scholarship if they change their course from non-professional to professional.
  • The applicants pursuing professional courses admitted for the year 2015-16 onwards who fail the examination two or more times in a particular academic course will not be eligible for the freeship.
  • The applicants can apply for the freeship for only one educational course and it will be applicable till they complete the course in the specified time.
  • The applicants must pass exams each year to receive the reimbursement of tuition fees and exam fees.
  • In case of a medical emergency, the headmaster of the college is required to provide a certificate for the same.
  • Scholarships/freeships will continue until the applicant completes one course (e.g., 11th, 12th Arts, B.A., M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D.). However, if an applicant completes both B.A. and B.Ed. courses and later takes admission for M.A., they will not be allowed for scholarship/freeship. But after admission to M.B.A. after B.Ed, they can be eligible for scholarship/freeship as it is a professional postgraduate course.
