Research Grants for Women Scientists (CSIR-ASPIRE) 2023 is an opportunity offered by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to women scientists in India. It is an initiative of the Hon’ble Prime Minister along with the CSIR to bring ‘Nari Shakti’ (women) to the forefront aiming at the development of the country. Only women scientists across the country are eligible to apply. They need to submit research proposals that should not exceed the budget limit (including the stipend of the candidate) of INR 25,00,000 - INR 30,00,000. A candidate will receive up to INR 54,000 per month depending on the position. Women scientists with relevant employment experience are invited to apply for research grants to carry out research and development (R&D) in major disciplines of Science in the following fields -

  • Life Sciences
  • Chemical Sciences
  • Physical Sciences
  • Engineering Sciences
  • Inter/Trans-Disciplinary Sciences

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must - 

    • be a woman scientist in regular employment
    • be a Principal Investigator (PI) of a research proposal

    Note - 

    • The Principal investigator (PI) must have sufficient number of years in service to complete the normal tenure of the research proposal at the time of submission.
    • The Principal investigator already having an ongoing CSIR project with more than a year’s tenure left, may not apply under the scheme this time and may wait for the next call.

    The selected candidates will receive the awards in the following sequence:

    Research Associateship (RA)

    The consolidated emoluments will be under the following 3 slabs depending on qualification and experience:

    1. INR 47,000 b) INR 49,000   c) INR 54,000

     

    Note - 

    • Selected candidates are also entitled to receive House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Medical Allowance (MA) along with the stipend, as per the rules of the host institution.
    • The funds will be provided for staff (JRF/SRF/RA), contingency and minor equipment.

    How can you apply?

    Eligible candidates can apply for the position using the steps listed below-
    Step 1:

    Step 3: Navigate to the ‘Register’ option at the bottom of the page,  fill in all the required fields and click on the ‘Submit’ button to register.
    Step 4: After successful registration, log in using valid credentials.
    Step 5: Submit the research proposal and submit.

Selection Criteria

The research proposals received from women scientists will be selected and regulated by CSIR EMR-II.

Terms and Conditions
  • The normal tenure of the research proposal is two to three years.
  • The research proposal should be submitted in the prescribed proforma (Form-C & Form-C1).
  • Ethical clearance where required should be enclosed with Form C.
  • Principal Investigators from private institutes are required to send relevant documents regarding the status of their institute.
  • Recognition certificate from UGC/DST/DSIR or affiliation certificate stating that the affiliation of the institute to the recognized university/institutes is required.
