Ph.D. Fellowships for Physician Scientist Training Program 2022 is being offered by the Institute of Bioinformatics, Bangalore (a non-profit, interdisciplinary research institute) in collaboration with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal for MBBS or advanced medical degree holders who are interested in pursuing basic research. The aim of this scheme is to provide training in molecular biology and interdisciplinary sciences that will include the use of genomics, proteomics and computational biology platforms. The special emphasis of the training will be on cancer biology, neurological disorders, infectious diseases and inherited genetic disorders. The selected candidates will receive a minimum fellowship award of INR 50,000 per month. The maximum fellowship award will be based on the qualifications and experience of the candidates.

- have an MBBS degree or with a speciality training certificate (e.g. DNB, MD degrees)
- have an interest in pursuing basic research
- have prior research experience and publication record
- have specialization in pathology, microbiology or biochemistry
- have good communication and interpersonal skills
Benefits The selected candidates will receive INR 50,000 per month or higher based on their qualifications and experience.

Selection Criteria
The candidates will be selected on the basis of academic background, research interest areas and fulfilment of eligibility criteria.
Terms and Conditions
- The fellowship program is for full-time research and will generally require 3 years.
- The Ph.D. thesis work will be tailored to suit the physician's academic background and research interests.
- The research work will be carried out at the Institute of Bioinformatics.
- The selected physicians will interact with clinicians and may visit academic medical centres that have ongoing collaborations with the Institute of Bioinformatics including Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bangalore, National Institute of Mental Health and NeuroSciences (NIMHANS) and Kasturba Medical College in Manipal.
- The Ph.D. degree for the program will be awarded by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal.
