Ministry of Higher Education, Oman is offering two scholarships for Indian students residing in Oman and two scholarships for Indian students residing outside Oman for higher studies in Oman for the academic session 2019-2020. This scholarship is open for undergraduate students and will cover the complete tuition fee, air tickets and provide a monthly allowance of up to OMR 200 per month.

    Eligibility

    Scholarship criteria for Indian students with a nonresident status are:

    • The applicant must have completed the General Education Diploma (GED) or an equivalent school curriculum not more than 3 years ago.
    • Maximum age limit - 23 years
    • The applicant must have achieved the minimum score (or higher) as per the requirements set by the higher education institution.
    • Applicant must be in good health.
    • Applicant must have achieved a minimum overall band score of 5.0 or equivalent in IELTS (for undergraduate courses in the English language).
    • The applicant must have an average score of 80% in the Arabic language as a school subject (if pursuing courses in the Arabic language).
    • The applicant must submit evidence that the general secondary school certificate, which is issued abroad, has been recognized and approved by the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate.

    Scholarship criteria for Indian students currently residing in Oman are:

    • Applicant must be a resident of the Sultanate.
    • Applicant must submit proof of good health.
    • Applicant must have an overall school grade of 75% or above or equivalent.
    • Applicant must have completed the General Education Diploma (GED) not more than two years ago.

    Benefits

    The selected students will get a scholarship that will cover their tuition fee for the entire course, return air tickets and an allowance of OMR 200 per month (if no accommodation is provided). In case the accommodation is also provided, the allowance will reduce to OMR 140 per month.

    Documents

    Applicants residing outside of Oman are required to submit:

    • A copy of a secondary school certificate
    • A copy of equivalence and recognition certificate issued by the Ministry of Education
    • A medical certificate as proof of good health.
    • A copy of a valid student’s passport
    • A complete application form filled in Arabic and English

    Applicants residing in Oman, need to submit the following documents:

    • A copy of a secondary school certificate
    • A copy of equivalence and recognition certificate issued by the ministry of education
    • Proof of residence in Oman (Copy of the resident card).
    • A medical certificate as proof of good health.

    How can you apply?

    Follow the steps below to apply:

    Step 1: Click here, and download the scholarship application form and notification.
    Step 2: Submit the scholarship application in the Embassy of India (or, respective countries of origin), Oman. Completely filled application, along with all documents mentioned in the notification should be submitted to Mr Dharmendra Singh 24684558 (after 2 pm only) on or before the deadline.

    Note: Indian students residing in Oman can visit the nearest college applied to complete their registration after accepting their offer. Students residing outside Oman will be escorted to their college on their arrival to complete the registration and other legalities.

Selection Criteria

The applications will be judged on the basis of requirements matched under the eligibilities and the merit of the student.

Terms and Conditions
  • The embassy will send the application to the Ministry of Higher Studies, Oman, where it will be reviewed and the result will be announced accordingly.
  • After the results, selected students or the embassy must confirm the acceptance of scholarship within 5 days of the offer.
  • The scholarships cover B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.E., B.Tech. programs but not M.B.B.S.
