National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Examination (NMMSS), Assam 2023 is an examination conducted by Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam for meritorious students pursuing their studies as a regular student in Class 9 to 12 in Government, Government-aided and local body schools for a maximum period of four years. The scheme is being offered by the Central Government of India.

Every year, students appear for two levels of selection tests at the state level to avail the benefits under this scholarship. The selected candidates will receive INR 12,000 per annum.

    To be eligible, a participant must:

    • be a regular student of Class 9 to 12 in government/government-aided/local body school
    Benefits

    The amount of scholarship will be INR 12,000 per annum or INR 1,000 per month.

    How can you apply?

    Eligible students can apply by following the below-mentioned steps:
    Step 1:
    Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
    Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note - If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
    Step 3: Navigate to the ‘National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Examination, 2023’ on the right-hand side of the dashboard and click on the ‘CLICK HERE’ button.
    Step 4: Navigate to the ‘Application Form’ button on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it (Note: If already registered, kindly login using valid credentials)
    Step 5: Read all the instructions carefully and click on the ‘Next’ button at the bottom of the page.
    Step 6: Fill in all the necessary details, upload the required documents, tick the declaration checkbox and click on the ‘Submit’ button.

Important Dates

Start Date of Application: 7th August 2023 
Last Date of Application: 10th October 2023 

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria is based on the following tests:

  • Online Mental Ability Test (MAT): 90 multiple-choice questions testing verbal and non-verbal meta-cognitive abilities like reasoning and critical thinking. 
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): 90 multiple-choice questions covering subjects namely, science, social studies and mathematics as taught in classes VII and VIII.

Note:-

  • The students must pass both the tests i.e. MAT and SAT with at least 40 % marks in aggregate taken together for these two tests. And for the SC/ST students it is 32% marks.
  • The student must have scored at least 55% mark or an equivalent grade in Class 8 examination and for SC/ST candidate it is 50 %.
