  • GFP is a 2 years residential leadership program, which develops the 7 competencies of leadership through a practical experience of the community.
  • In the 4 Semesters, the Fellow engages with 5 government schools to improve students’ learning outcome (SLO), executes 12 intensive leadership processes and works on personal project to impact 1 million lives in next 10 years.
  • GFP pre-requires a minimum qualification of graduation to apply. The application is for single/unmarried aspirants with age limit of 25 years as on 1 July 2016
  • GFP is a full time program thereby doesn’t allow any other course, employment or coaching to be pursued.
  • GFP may require additional information from applicants and thus reserves the right to collect information from applicants at a later date and use this information in admission decisions.
  • Notifications: Applicants must report changes in information in their application form, communication address, academic status, medical conditions and any legal information within 15 days to GFP. Failure to inform is grounds for non-admission, rescission of the admission offer, or dismissal from the fellowship.
  • Notification from GFP - Any changes in the organizational or programmatic policies, program content and other information shall be intimated to the aspirant at any stage of the GFP application and program within 30 days of the change.
  • Falsification or misrepresentation of any sort, including plagiarism in the application or supporting materials is grounds for non-admission or dismissal.
  • Reapplication: Candidature is only accepted once in an admission year. Aspirants are welcome to reapply during next admission year.
  • Given the volume of applications received by GFP every year, they are unable to provide individual feedback.

The Gandhi Fellowship Program is a two-year Fellowship program for talented youngsters from India's top colleges

The program is rooted in the belief that as a nation it is important to develop a cadre of leaders exposed to the complexities of bringing change in social and public systems. The Gandhi Fellowship Program is designed to provide youth with the opportunity for personal transformation through self-discovery and thereby, contribute to the causes surrounding them. It creates a legitimate space for young people to engage with social issues in a real manner and devote their energies to bring about school change through their tenure and effectively lead complex public systems in the future.

2 Years, 5 Schools, 1,000 Children and the Gandhi Fellow

As a catalyst for school change, each fellow brings change in 5 schools by being a resource person for the school principals and by potentially impacting the lives of 1,000 children. Fellows assist teachers and identify when and where Headmasters (Principals) need extra support. Fellows interact and work with teachers, community members and education officials towards the goal of creating model schools.

Who are they looking for

They are looking for students of top colleges across India who have demonstrated leadership quality through their work in both academic as well as extracurricular activities.

Extracurricular leadership can be identified in the form of school captain of sports / art club teams, house captain, president or secretary of college events, participation at state / national / international level competitions.

Entrepreneurial activities will be considered for leadership experience.

Grant

You shall be entitled to an all-inclusive monthly grant of Rs. 14,000, a fixed monthly phone allowance of Rs. 600 and rent-free accommodation and other allowances as applicable.

Of the monthly grant of Rs. 14,000, half shall be paid on monthly basis and the remaining Rs. 7000 would be retained as interest-free reserve amount. The cumulative reserve amount will be paid at the end of the term of Fellowship after the period of 23 months. In case the Fellowship is terminated earlier, the cumulative reserve amount will be paid to you subject to following conditions:

Fellowship termination between 0-11 months: no claim to cumulative reserve amount;

Fellowship termination after completion of 12 month: entitled to claim cumulative reserve amount for 12 months (i.e. 7000 x 12), but amount will be credited at the end of the Fellowship term;

Fellowship termination between 12-22 months: No claim for additional months after 12 months (i.e. 7000 x 12), but amount will credit at the end of the term of Fellowship;

Fellowship completion at 23 months: entitled to claim 23 months of cumulative reserve amount (i.e. 7000 x 23).
