The University of Melbourne is offering Faculty of Science Postgraduate Writing-Up Award, 2020 for graduate research candidates enrolled through the Faculty of Science after the submission of their PhD thesis. The awards are supported through two funds: the Albert Shimmins Fund (governed by UTR7.220), and the David Lachlan Hay Memorial Fund (governed by UTR6.190). The selected candidate will receive up to AUD 5,000 which will be paid over 3 months.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility To be eligible, an applicant must:
- Have submitted a PhD thesis for examination and be awaiting the examination result
- Have submitted the thesis within three years and 10 months (FTE) candidature period
- Not be in receipt of any similar award
Note: The applicants must not undertake full-time or substantial regular part-time employment during the tenure of the award.
Benefits Approximately 12 scholarships are awarded under this programme. The selected candidates will receive AUD 5,000 stipend which will be paid over three months.

The candidate should frame their CV in such a way that it includes the following:

- Candidate should mention about Publications including the following:
- Indicating their contribution to the published work and the ranking of the publication within the discipline:
- Original refereed publications
- Full published conference proceedings
- Reviews
- Chapters and Monographs
- Conference Abstracts
- Other Publications
- Indicating their contribution to the published work and the ranking of the publication within the discipline:
- Postgraduate writing-up award recipients are no longer enrolled for the purpose of study for the Senior Research higher degree (RHD) thesis.
- Income from the writing-up must be declared for tax purposes.
- Submission of an application does not guarantee the awarding of the postgraduate writing-up award.
- Eligible candidates must have submitted their thesis within 3 years and 10 months.
- Awardees should not undertake full-time or substantial regular part-time employment during the tenure of the award.
- Eligible international students must commit to spending at least 66% of their time in Melbourne during the writing up of articles.
- The awardee must submit a final report on the work undertaken, the manuscript submitted for publication and evidence that the manuscript has been submitted.
- The award is tenable for three months.
- The awardee will be responsible to the head of school and their supervisor for work undertaken while a recipient of the writing-up award.
- The applicable areas of study are Science and Mathematics.
