Centrally Sponsored National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Examination, West Bengal 2023 is an initiative of the Directorate of School Education, West Bengal for students studying in Class 8. The aim of this scholarship program is to financially support the meritorious students of economically weaker sections of society. The selected candidates will receive INR 12,000 per annum.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility To be eligible, an applicant must-
- be a student of Class 8
- have secured 55% and above marks in Class 7 (Note - 5% relaxation to SC, ST and disabled candidates)
- be studying in a government school/government-aided school/local body and government-sponsored school including Madrasah without a residential facility
- have an annual family income of INR 3,50,000 from all sources
Note - Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and state government-run residential schools or any private school are not entitled to receive scholarship.
Benefits The selected candidates will receive INR 12,000 per annum.
Documents - Passport-size photograph
- Head of Institution (HOI) certificate
- Income certificate of the parent
- For salaried persons employed in government, semi-government and govt. aided organization/institution, the employer certificate must be obtained for the period from 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2023
- For other people, the certificate must be obtained for the period of 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2023 from any competent authority, not below the rank of Jt. B.D.O/executive officer or equivalent (in case of corporation and municipality area)
- Employer certificate of parent
- First page of bank passbook
- Caste certificate issued by the competent authority
- Disability certificate (Note: 40% and above disability must be certified by the competent medical board of the state/central government, if applicable)
Note:
- The above documents must be duly authenticated by the concerned School Authority.
- The maximum size of each scanned document must be 200 KB (PDF).
- The image file for the photograph should be in jpg format and the maximum size limit is 50KB (3.5 x 4.5 cm).
How can you apply? Eligible candidates can apply for the opportunity by following the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note - If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Navigate to the ‘New User Register Here’ tab on the right-hand side of the dashboard.
Step 4: Fill in the required details to 'Register'.
Step 5: After successful registration, log in to the account using a valid registration number and password.
Step 6: Fill in the required details in the application and upload the documents.
Step 7: Submit the application.

Selection Criteria
The candidates will be selected on the basis of mental ability test, scholarship aptitude test and fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

Terms and Conditions
- The decision of authority will be final in case of any dispute/doubt.
- There is no provision to submit the hard copy of the form either in the Directorate of School Education, Bikash Bhavan or in the office of D.I/S(SE) of any district.
- The ‘rejected and unlocked’ applicant will get an opportunity to rectify the application by the date as per notification.
- The candidature of the applicant may be cancelled at any stage of the examination process without any reference if any incorrect information is found in the filled-in application form of the said candidate.
- Application form with incomplete/irrelevant information/photograph/scanned certificates is liable to be summarily rejected.
