Bihar Innovation Challenge 2023 is an all-India innovation challenge event. The event is being conducted by Startup Bihar, Department of Industries, Government of Bihar with an aim to foster innovation and promote commercialization. Shortlisted applicants are required to prepare a working prototype/model, and demonstrate and pitch its business prospects to the Jury members during the Grand Finale. Winners and runner-ups will receive gifts/cash prizes worth lakhs and further funding opportunities including handhold & mentorship support.

- belong to one of the following categories:
- Category A - School students
- Category B - College Students
- Category C - Startups/Research Scholars
Benefits Winners and runner-ups will receive gifts and cash prizes including funding opportunities and mentorship support from the premier institutes of Bihar. The details are tabulated below:
Categories Prizes First Second Third School Students Laptop Tablets Smart Watches College Students INR 1 lakh INR 75,000 INR 50,000 Startups/Research Scholars INR 3 lakh INR 2 lakh INR 1 lakh Documents - A short presentation of 6-8 slides in PDF format on technology and business plan.
- Shortlisted applicants are required to prepare a working prototype/model, demonstrate and pitch its business prospects to the Jury members during the Grand Finale.
How can you apply? Eligible candidates can apply for the innovation challenge by following the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note - If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email Id)
Step 3: Fill in all the necessary details, upload the required presentation.

Important Dates
- Advertisement and call of applications – 21st July 2023
- Last date for registration and submission of Presentation – 30th August 2023
- Shortlisting of finalists (Top 25 from Each Category) – 7th September 2023
- Submission of videos of the working model and final pitch deck – 20th Sep 2023
- Grand Finale – The Demo Day – 5th Oct 2023
- Prize Distribution and Valedictory – 6th Oct 2023
Selection Criteria
Students, innovators, startups, research scholars will exhibit a proof-of-concept/prototype ready in the following areas:
- Robotics and Drones
- Agri-tech and allied sectors
- Med-tech/Biotech/Health-tech
- Heritage, culture, and tourism
- Clean and Green Environment
- Fintech
A total of 25 applicants will be shortlisted from each category based on their submitted responses.
The shortlisted startups will get one month time to develop their prototype/model and prepare their business model.
The finalists will be invited to Patna to exhibit their prototypes and pitch their business models to the experts.
Winners will be rewarded with cash prizes, technical support to develop the prototype and wild-card entry to the pitching round of Startup Bihar.
