My father is a security guard and has taken care of people’s safety throughout his life. Even though he stood daily for 12 hours, while managing the scorching sun during the day and mosquitoes at night, he had an undying attitude towards serving his community. That’s how my passion to work in the field of healthcare grew. However, with a mere family income of  INR 1,20,000 yearly and my father being the only earning member, I could only daydream about doing something better with my life. I made education come to my rescue by consistently scoring well in school. Just when I needed it the most, BR & CR Shetty Foundation came up with scholarships for underprivileged children like me. These grants were available for B.Sc. and Diploma courses in Allied Medical Sciences.  

To my surprise, the application process was fairly easy and BR & CR Shetty paid almost the entire yearly fee for my course, which is INR 35,000. When I got admission at Vidyarathna  College of Nursing, Udupi for an OT Technician course, my father felt that all his years of hard work bore fruit. My efforts towards further education and raising my mother, brother, and father from poverty-like situations will not stop here! Thanks to BR & CR Shetty, I now have more confidence in myself and the future.
