NHRC Online Short-Term Internship Programme 2024 is an opportunity offered by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)* to graduate and postgraduate law students. This internship programme aims to spread awareness among students about the necessity of protecting and promoting human rights. It is a 12-day short-term internship programme that offers ₹2,000 along with a certificate of completion.

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)* is a standalone entity of the Government of India that promotes and protects the human rights of citizens.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must:-

    • be a maximum of 28 years old as of 1st April 2024
    • be enrolled in the 3rd year or above of any integrated 5-year postgraduate course
    • be enrolled in the 3rd or final year of a graduate program
    • be enrolled in any semester/year of a postgraduate degree or diploma program
    • be a research scholar in any field
    • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 60% in Class 12 and all subsequent coursework including the program currently being pursued

    Note - 

    • To calculate the CGPA, use the prescribed formula and convert the CGPA/SGPA into a percentage.
      Students who have previously participated in an NHRC internship program are not eligible to apply.

    Benefits

    Selected candidates will receive a certificate of participation and a one-time award of ₹2,000 based on their performance in the following areas:

    • Punctuality
    • Discipline
    • Participation in online sessions
    • Project presentations and reports
    • Book reviews
    Documents
    • A scanned self-attested copy of marksheets of Class 10, 12, graduation and presently pursuing course
    • Letter of Recommendation (LOR) by the Head of the Institution/Dean/Principal
    • Statement of Purposes (SoPs) for joining the internship in 250 words (Note:- Students may include details related to the co-curricular activities, moot courts, internships, and research projects for strengthing their application.)
    • Scanned recommendation letter/email by HOD/Dean/Principal concerned in the annexed proforma
    How can you apply?

    Eligible candidates can apply for the internship using the steps listed below:-
    Step 1:
    Click the ‘Apply Now’ button below.
    Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard and fill in the required details to 'Register'. (Note - If already registered, log in using the registered email ID.)
    Step 3: Navigate to the ‘Apply Online’ button and click on it.
    Step 4: Read the instructions carefully and proceed further.
    Step 5: Fill in all the required details to ‘Register’.
    Step 6: After registering successfully, fill in the required information and upload the necessary documents to complete the application.

Selection Criteria

The candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria. 

Note:- Priority will be given to students demonstrating research potential in human rights-related areas.

  • Attendance at all online sessions is mandatory for interns. However, under exceptional circumstances and with prior written notice, interns may be granted a leave of absence for up to two days.
  • This is a full-time internship program running from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Students must ensure their availability for these hours before applying.
  • Interns are expected to be disciplined and manage their time effectively to participate in online sessions, complete assigned classes (if applicable), and submit project presentations, reports, and book reviews on time.
  • The National Human Rights Commission reserves the right to reject any or all applications and to modify the internship program's terms and conditions without providing specific justifications.
