Maths Talent Search Examination, MTSE - 2013

Details:-

1. The top 5 rank holders of each class are awarded mementoes.
2. The top 200 successful students from each class are awarded a Certificate of Merit and Cash prizes worth more than Rs. 3.5 lacs as under.
3. A Certificate of Participation is awarded to all other students writing the examination.

What is MTSE?

Maths Talent Search Examination (MTSE) is a competitive examination conducted at various levels by the Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics (IISMA). The focus of this exam is on mathematical reasoning, mental ability, novel approach, concepts, accuracy and speed.

Eligibility

MTSE is an open exam. Any student studying in Class III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX under any educational board is eligible to appear for MTSE. A student can appear only for the class in which he/she is studying during the academic year.

Nature of Exam

The paper consists of 50 objective questions i.e. each question  has 4 alternatives. These questions are to be answered in 90 minutes, on an OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) answer sheet. The correct answer is awarded with 2 marks, whereas the wrong one carries a penalty of 0.5 marks, except for Class III and IV.

Hall Ticket, Seat Number and Centre for Examination

The Hall Ticket, bearing the student’s Seat Number and Centre for the Examination is sent to the school 10 days prior to the date of the examination. You can also download your Hall Ticket by visiting the Downloads section of this website.

Results

The results of the examination are declared on this website by the 30th of April and can be checked by visiting the Results section. The marksheet and certificates are sent to the schools by the30th of June. Students are requested to keep checking this site periodically.

Verification of Marks

If a student desires to get his/her marks reassessed, an application in this regard, along with a self addressed stamped envelope (9" x 4.5") should  be submitted to the office of the IISMA. The Application Form can be downloaded from the Downloads section. Along with application, please attach Demand Draft / Pay Order of Rs. 100/- (Rupees Hundred Only) drawn in favour of “Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics” payable at Mumbai.

Photocopy of the answer sheet and model answer key will be made available after verification. Applications received after the specified date will not be entertained. The decision of IISMA in this matter shall be final and binding.

Maths Talent Search Examination, or MTSE is a mathematics skill and mental ability based competitive exam for the students of Class III to IX.

MTSE is one of the only examinations at school level to include negative marking, thus giving students a real taste and experience of national and international competitive exams that they will face further ahead in life.

Timings: 09.00 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.

Registration for MTSE 2013

Date of Examination : 17th February, 2013

You can register for MTSE 2013 by filling up the online form and sending us the necessary fees.

 the Registration form is also available under the Downloads section. Take a printout and fill the form correctly following instructions specified on the form. Duly filled hard copy of the Registration form along with necessary fee must reach our office on or before the prescribed dates.

(Note: If you want to buy any publications, you can add the amount to your registration fee itself.)

Registration Fees: Rs. 200 only

Last date for Registration: 31th October, 2012

Late Registration Fees: Add Rs. 50 upto 15th November, 2012

                                      Add Rs. 100 thereafter upto 30thNovember, 2012

Mode of Payment

The fee can be paid either by -

(i) Cash at our office.

(ii) Pay order / demand draft drawn in favour of "Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics", payable at Mumbai to be attached with the form.

(iii) Depositing cheque in any computerised branch of Punjab National Bank in Account No. 3736002101016736 or HDFC Bank in Account No. 05012020000872 in the name of "Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics" and sending original counterfoil of pay-in-slip along with the Registration Form.

(iv) Transferring the amount online in our above mentioned bank accounts.The details for online transfer are as under :
    (a) HDFC Bank, Mistry Bhavan, Churchgate Branch. IFSC : HDFC0000501.
    (b) Punjab National Bank, Vile Parle (E) Branch. IFSC : PUNB0373600.

We request you to avoid depositing cash in our above mentioned bank accounts. In case of cash deposit, please add Rs. 25.00 for Punjab National Bank / Rs. 62.00 for HDFC Bank.

Outstation payments (outside of Mumbai) are to be made by Demand Draft or Deposit only in Punjab National Bank or HDFC bank.

No payments by cheque sent to our office will be accepted. The Registration fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
