G N Ramachandran Gold Medal for Excellence in Biological Sciences and Technology 2022 is an initiative for candidates who are engaged in research in biological sciences & technology. The award is given each year for outstanding contributions to Biological Sciences & Technology. The selected candidates will be awarded a gold medal and a citation.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility To be eligible, an applicant must -
- Be any citizen of India engaged in research in Biological Sciences & Technology
- Have made conspicuously important and excellent contributions to human knowledge and progress
Note - An overseas citizen of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) working in India are also eligible.
Benefits The selected candidates will be awarded a gold medal and a citation. The award will be given every year with the approval of the Governing Body of CSIR on the recommendations of the Advisory Committee.
How can you apply? The eligible candidate can apply for the post by using the below-mentioned steps -

Selection Criteria
The award will be given on the basis of contributions made through work done primarily* in India during the ten years, preceding the year of the prize.
Note - For this purpose “primarily” will mean “for the most part”.

Terms and Conditions
- The Advisory Committee for each year’s award would be constituted by DG, CSIR. The Committee would consist of a maximum of seven experts in broad areas.
- A candidate, once nominated, would be considered for a total period of three years, if otherwise eligible.
- Once such a nomination has been received, CSIR can correspond directly with the candidate for supplementary information, if necessary.
