ADB Visiting Fellow Program 2018-19 invites applications from candidates who are pursuing or hold a PhD degree in economics or related field. The key objective of the fellow program is to provide an opportunity to academics and researchers to share their recently completed or ongoing economic research at ADB headquarters in Manila.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility An applicant must -- Be either a PhD candidate or PhD holder (or its equivalent) in economics or any related field
- Have an ongoing research or research proposal on a topic relevant to ADB
- Be a citizen of one of the ADB member countries
Benefits The selected visiting fellows will receive some or all of the following benefits under this program -- A lumpsum honorarium depending on his/her experience, qualification and agreed length of visit.
- Travel cost (roundtrip air ticket of economy class)
- Miscellaneous travel expenses of USD 100 (one-time)
- Office space
- Accommodation and subsistence allowance
- Insurance coverage
Documents - Short cover letter
- Curriculum vitae
- Short description of the ongoing research project
- Presentation material like PowerPoint slides
- A draft paper (if available)
How can you apply? Eligible can apply for the fellow program online through following steps -Step 1: Prepare a short cover letter.Step 2: Write a short description of the ongoing research project including the objective of the study, methodology, findings and policy implications.Step 3: Send the application along with all supporting documents to visitingfellowprogram@adb.org.
Selection Criteria
An ERCD selection committee headed by the ADB's Chief Economist meets quarterly for the review of applications and make the final selection by adopting followng two selection methods -
- Competitive selection: The applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their background, expertise, quality of research and its relevance to ADB
- Direct selection: This method of selection will be used in special cases when ERCD deems it necessary to engage specific applicants for their expertise.
Terms and Conditions
- The visiting fellows have to ensure a minimum stay of 2 working days up to a maximum of 10 working days at ADB headquarters
- The visiting fellows will be served by respectively assigned host ERCD division
- The timeframe of the visit will be agreed upon by the visiting fellow and ERCD.
- The fellows are expected to deliver the outputs within the agreed timeframe as arranged with ADB.
- The fellows have to indicate their acceptance of the terms and conditions of their visit by signing the offer letter.
- The visiting fellows have to publish their research paper as an ADB Economic Working Paper.
