The Common Entrance Test (CET-2024) serves as the common platform for the admission process meant for selective bachelor's degree programs offered by the following institutes under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India:

  • Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR), Cuttack
  • National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (NILM), Kolkata
  • National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD), Chennai
  • Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (PDUNIPPD), New Delhi
  • Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRCSRE), Guwahati 

Established in the early 1980s under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DIVYANGJAN), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, these Institutes function as autonomous bodies. Their primary aims and objectives are outlined below:

  • • Human Resource Development in the field of rehabilitation of PwDs
  • • Developing a model service delivery system for people with disabilities.
  • • Undertaking research and development in the field of rehabilitation.
  • • Undertaking consultancy services.
  • • Undertaking extension & outreach programs

These Institutes provide training programs in their respective areas of specialisation at the certificate, diploma, degree, and postgraduate levels. These institutes are also actively involved in research, and development of innovative models for rehabilitation services, manpower development, and clinical and therapeutic interventions. Additionally, they maintain extensive outreach programs to ensure decentralised availability of these services. Notably, some of these Institutes offer specialised courses that require candidates to qualify for an All-India Common Entrance Test.
Some of the rehabilitation specialisations offered by these institutes include the following:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Prosthetics and Orthotics

Applicants must be Indian nationals or, in exceptional cases, foreign nationals from neighbouring Southeast Asian countries. Selection will be strictly based on merit criteria through performance in the Common Entrance Test (CET-2024).

    Eligibility

    Applicants must fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned below in order to qualify for appearing in the Common Entrance Test (CET):-

    • Applicants should be Indian citizens or citizens of a foreign country, particularly from neighbouring Southeast Asian countries.
    • Students must be 17 years old at the time of admission or should be 17 years old on or before 31st December in the year of admission to the first year of the BPT/BOT/BPO program.  (Note:- There is no age limit criteria applicable to students pursuing a Bachelor in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP) course.)
    • Candidates who have appeared for the Class 12 examination (Qualifying) but are awaiting results in their essential subjects can apply and appear for the Common Entrance Test 2024. These candidates must upload their 10+2 marksheet after the result is declared and published.
    • Applicants must meet the following academic criteria:
    Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research        (SVNIRTAR), Cuttack
    Courses Duration Eligibility
    Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) 
    4 years + 6 months of internship
    • Students must have passed the qualifying exam i.e. Class 12 or ISC or an equivalent examination having English as a subject securing a minimum of 50% in Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects.
    • For SC/ST and Physically Handicapped (Divyangjan) candidates, the minimum percentage of marks obtained should be 40% and 45% respectively. 
    Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT)
    • Students must have passed the qualifying exam i.e. Class 12 ISC, or an equivalent examination that includes English as a subject securing a minimum of 50% in Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects.
    • For SC/ST and Divyangjan (Physically Handicapped) candidates, the minimum percentage of marks obtained should be 40% and 45% respectively.
    Bachelor in Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO)
    • Applicants must have passed Class (10 + 2) or an equivalent qualifying exam in science stream with subjects including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics.
    • A minimum score of 50% marks in the subjects combining PCB or PCM is required.
    • For SC/ST and Divyangjan (Physically Handicapped) candidates, the minimum mark requirement is relaxed to 40% and 45% respectively.
    B.Sc. in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP) 4 years including 1 year of internship
    • Candidates who have passed the Class (10 + 2) or an equivalent qualifying exam from a recognised board with a minimum aggregate score of 50% are eligible to apply.
    • Applicants must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and one of the following subjects:
      • Biology
      • Mathematics
      • Computer Science
      • Statistics
      • Electronics, or
      • Psychology
    • There is no age restriction criteria applicable.
                      National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (NILM), Kolkata
    Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) 4 years + 6
    months of 
    internship
    • Candidates who have passed the Class (10 + 2) or an equivalent qualifying exam in the science stream from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English subjects are eligible to apply.
    • The minimum aggregate percentage of marks in PCB&E (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English) is 50% for the students from the general category.
    • For SC/ST and Divyangjan candidates, the minimum percentage of marks required are 40% and 45% respectively.
    Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT)
    • Candidates must have passed the Class (10 + 2) exam in Science or an equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks obtained in subjects with PCBE combination.
    • For SC/ST and Divyangjan candidates, the minimum marks obtained should be 40% and 45% respectively.
    Bachelor in Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO)
    • Candidates must have passed the Class (10 + 2) or an equivalent exam in the science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics and English subjects.
    • A minimum aggregate score of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics, and English (PCBE/PCME) is required.
    • For SC/ST and Divyangjan candidates, the minimum aggregate score required is 40% and 45% respectively.
    National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities                                                        (NIEPMD), Chennai
    Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) 4 years + 6
    months of
    internship
    • Applicants must have passed the Higher Secondary Course (Science Stream) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Zoology (PCBZ) combination of subjects.
    • A minimum aggregate score of 50% marks in PCB/PCBZ combination of subjects is required. Additionally, applicants must have passed English as a mandatory subject.
    • For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum required aggregate score is 40%, and for Divyangjan candidates, it is 45%.
    Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT)
    • Applicants must have passed the Higher Secondary Course (Science Stream) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Zoology (PCBZ) combination of subjects.
    • A minimum aggregate score of 50% in PCB/PCBZ combination of subjects is required. Obtaining a passing mark in English subject is mandatory.
    • For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum required aggregate score is 40%, and for Divyangjan candidates, it is 45%.
    Bachelor in Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO)
    • Applicants must have passed the Higher Secondary Course with a minimum aggregate score of 50% in either PCB, PCM, or PCBZ. Obtaining a passing mark in English subject is mandatory.
    • For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum required aggregate score is 40%, and for Divyangjan candidates, it is 45%.

    Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) and Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) 4 years + 6
    months of
    internship
    • Candidates must have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (10 + 2) or an equivalent examination recognised by the Board. The examination must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English (PCBE subjects), with a passing grade obtained in each subject.
    • The minimum aggregate marks requirement in PCBE combination of subjects is 50% for the general category and 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/CWAPP categories.
    Bachelor in Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO)
    • Candidates must have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (10 + 2) or an equivalent examination recognised by the Board. This examination must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCBE), and English or Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCME) combination of subjects with passing marks obtained in each subject.
    • The minimum required aggregate marks in the PCBE/PCME combination of subjects are 50% for the general category and 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/CWAPP categories.

    B.Sc. in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP)


    4 years including 1 year of Internship

    • Applicants must have passed a 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with a minimum aggregate score of 50%.
    • The required subjects should include Physics, Chemistry, and one of the following:
      • Mathematics 
      • Biology
      • Computer Science
      • Statistics
      • Electronics, or
      • Psychology

    General Terms and Conditions:

    • The entrance test exam and all subsequent instructions will be published in English language only.
    • Candidates selected for the course will be required to deposit the course fee and caution money according to the norms of the institute. If a candidate withdraws from the course mid-year, for any reason, the course fee (except for the caution money) will be forfeited. However, the caution money will be refunded.
    • A stipend may be awarded during the internship period according to the prevailing rules at the time of award.
    • The institute reserves the right to reject an incomplete application form.
    • No attempt to influence the results of CET-2024 through correspondence or canvassing in any form will be tolerated.
    • The institute is not responsible for applications or enclosures not received by the notified deadline, regardless of the reason.
    • Candidates are expected to follow the rules of discipline and code of conduct established by the institutes carefully.
    • Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. Violators will face severe disciplinary action from the institute, which may include initiation of legal proceedings under IPC and Cr. PC.
    • Hostel allotment is subject to availability each year and may depend on disciplinary conduct and/or academic performance.
    • Students admitted to the hostel will be required to follow the established hostel rules. They should maintain the utmost discipline, decency, and decorum in their interactions with staff, fellow residents, and students. Keeping bicycles and cars in the hostel is not permitted.
    • No student will stay in the hostel beyond the duration of the course in which they have enrolled.
    • Students must attend classes regularly. Attendance should be maintained as per the respective norms of the university.
    • All legal matters related to CET-2024 will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Honourable High Court of the designated state.
    • Candidates can submit only one application form.  Any attempt to submit multiple applications, whether for the same stream or different streams, will result in the rejection of all applications.

    Documents

    Students are required to submit scanned copies of the following:

    • Applicant's photograph with white background [in JPEG/JPG format and size from 40-100 KB and (100x100) pixels]
    • Applicant's signature [in JPEG/JPG format and size from 40-50KB and (200x100) pixels]
    • Applicant's thumb impression [in JPEG/JPG format and size from 40-100KB and (100x100) pixels]
    • Caste certificate (if applicable)*
    • Academic transcripts including marksheets and certificates (PDF format and size up to 300 KB)
    • PwD/PH certificate (and UDID card, if applicable)
    • EWS certificate issued by a competent authority within one year before the counselling date
    • Residence/domicile/nativity certificate (For candidates under Northeast and Jammu & Kashmir reservation categories)
    • Class 10+2 science marksheet (required if passed) [Note:- This document is not applicable for candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination but haven't received their results yet.)

    *Note:-

    • An OBC candidate must upload a certificate in the Government of India (GoI) format.
    • State Backward Class (BC) certificates will not be considered valid proof. Applications without a valid OBC certificate will be rejected, and no further communication will be entertained.
    • Applicants who are appearing for the examination under a reserved category must submit documentary evidence during document verification or counselling to support their claim. Failure to provide valid documentation will result in forfeiture of the reserved seat. In such cases, the applicant will be considered for the unreserved category in the next round of seat allotment.
    • Candidates are advised to retain a physical copy of the application confirmation page along with proof of fees payment for future reference or any necessary correspondence.
    • The application form must be completed in all aspects. Incomplete or unsuccessful submissions will result in outright rejection. A completed application includes the following:
      • Registration completion
      • Scanned copies of photograph, signature, and left thumb impression
      • Payment of the required application fee
      • Generation and download of the payment receipt and confirmation page
    • The following selections cannot be modified after submission, however in unavoidable circumstances, the Chairman, CET-2024, cum-Director, may authorise a change to the examination center:
      • Chosen category
      • Reservation/sub-reservation category
      • Entrance test center
    • The information provided for name, father's name, and date of birth must exactly match the details recorded in the candidate's Class 10 certificate or equivalent. Any discrepancies may result in the cancellation of the candidate's candidacy, even if discovered later.
    How can you apply?

    Applicants should fill in the required details in the forms meant for the CET Admission by following the steps enumerated below:
    Step 1:
    Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
    Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details to register. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile Number/Email ID.)
    Step 3: Visit the official website of the respective institutions, look for the 'Common Entrance Test (CET)' section and click on the 'Apply' button.
    Step 4: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents, and make an online non-refundable payment of examination fees through a debit card/credit card internet banking/UPI/wallet using
    online gateway payment facility. BillDeskgateway is also available for online transactions.                     
    (Note:- BillDesk Gateway transaction charges will be applicable as per the rates in effect at the time of application submission.)
    Step 5: Submit the application form.

    Note:- 

    • Students who have passed from a recognised National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are eligible for admission at SVNIRTAR, NIEPMD, PDUNIPPD, and CRCSRE Guwahati, provided they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria.
    • For admission to NILD, only candidates who have passed from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Ministry of HRD, Government of India, are eligible. This follows the approval of the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. Students from any other Open Schools, Open Universities, or pursuing correspondence courses offered by Patrachar Vidyalayas are not eligible.
    • Application fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstances.
    • Fee details for submission of application form are as follows:
      • General/OBC/EWS Candidates: ₹1,000 
      • SC/ST/PwD Candidates: ₹800 
      • PwD Candidates with UDID Cards: Free
