Which board is the best CBSE or ICSE?
CBSE is well recognised by Indian Government. In India No of CBSE Schools(approx 10000) are far more than ICSE Board Schools(less than 1000). CBSE National curriculum - prefferred by parents in transferable jobs.
CBSE generally allow students to prepare the whole syllabus from Lower Kindergarten (L.K.G) to Class 12, for schools affiliated with it. It conducts India’s 2 wide board examinations: the All India Secondary School Examination for Class 10 and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination for Class 12.
CBSE is relatively easier compared to ICSE. ICSE syllabus are little lengthy with more examination papers.
CBSE Syllabus is frequently updated with more relevant materials and very much handles the current trends.
CBSE is little more liberal and students can get better marks as compared to ICSE.
If child want to score more percentage in boards, go for CBSE.
CBSE system of teaching hones the children towards thinking/problem solving methodology.CBSE allows students for co-curricular skill development along with vocational skill development related to entrepreneurship/social work. Also it promotes students to show their skill into international platform.
CBSE has more scientific approach and help students plan for the exams in a more scientific way.

Most of the Indian competitive exams are based on the CBSE syllabus.
There are more objective kind of questions, which prepares students for national level competitive exams.
Science and Maths is almost the same compared to ICSE.
There are 2 languages to study in CBSE. First langauage can be English or Hindi.
The choice of 2nd language depends on the school.
It can be any regional language and Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Nepali, Tibetan, Mizo.
ICSE is ahead of CBSE in course. Is heavy on languages.
ICSE is more liberal and gives a good choice of subjects.
For pursing career in Management (MBA) ICSE is suggested.
ICSE gives a good command over language and has 2 papers in English.
The syllabus is compatible amongst the common wealth countries.
Easier to relocate to some of the other countries in the middle of a school year(
if the child may have to go abroad for under-grad education).
ICSE offers more atypical courses like home science, agriculture, fashion design, cookery etc.
The exposure to atypical courses may help a child see beyond the obvious career choices.
Student can opt out of math and science in ICSE. The CBSE folks may find it tough to switch to ICSE at higher levels.
Other Factors to consider irrespective of Board for selection of any school:
Kind of teachers in the school.
Homework and examination policies.
Type of extra-curricular activites offered by the school which will determine the all-round development of your child.
Commute to school.
