About The Program

Wells Mountain Foundation Scholarship 2025 is an opportunity provided by Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI)* to students pursuing undergraduate degrees. The scholarship aims to financially assist outstanding students in completing their studies. The selected candidates will receive a maximum scholarship of USD 3,000 per annum.

*The Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) is a charitable foundation in Bristol, Vermont, USA, recognized under Section 501(c)(3). WMI promotes social change through education and community building by offering scholarships and skills training to talented young individuals in the developing world, creating a network of grassroots leaders for community transformation. Since 2005, the foundation has supported more than 700 students worldwide.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be 35 years old or younger as of 1 August 2025
  • have completed secondary education or be in the final year, with above-average to excellent grade
  • be applying to a university or currently enrolled in classes for their first undergraduate degree
  • plan to live and work in their home country after graduation
  • have participated in volunteer service prior to applying for the scholarship and demonstrate a commitment to volunteering within their community during their studies
  • display the need for financial assistance

Note:-

  • Family members of WMI Staff and of WMI Scholars are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants planning to study in the United States, Canada, Australia, UK or Western Europe are ineligible to apply.
Benefits

The foundation offers between 80 to 100 scholarships annually, with the maximum scholarship amount reaching USD 3,000. On average, recipients receive around USD 1,500. The amount supports tuition and fees, transportation, accommodation, meals, books, and course materials/supplies.

The scholarship is renewed throughout all the years of the undergraduate education subject to fulfilling the ongoing requirements.

Note:-

  • The application must be completed in English. If required documents are supplied in other languages, they must be accompanied by official English translations.
  • Documents must be in JPG, PNG, GIF, DOC, DOCX, or PDF.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected through an in-depth multi-step review process. Selected and rejected applicants will be informed via mail, and the selected candidate’s names will be published on the website homepage and the WMI Facebook page.

  • This is not a full scholarship i.e., it does not cover the full cost of tuition and associated educational expenses.
  • The scholarship does not cover the cost of laptops/computers, conferences, trips, debts, or past-due tuition bills.
  • Applicants must submit original work. Any other sources must be cited, and the use of AI is prohibited.
  • Responsibilities of the scholarship awardees include:
    • maintaining above-average grades in all university studies,
    • being an ambassador for community service and engagement,
    • performing, recording, and documenting 100 hours of community service activities
    • throughout the year,
    • completing the academic semester report & community service report for WMI
    • scholars twice a year,
    • maintaining open communication with the education manager about being a student.
