To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be under 32 years of age at the time of application
- be from a developing country
- be enrolled in their final term, or have graduated from an advanced university degree (master’s, doctorate, or equivalent)
- top marks in fields relevant to the work of the UNU
- be fluent in spoken and written English
- display an interest in the interface between international climate policy and research
- motivated to work and learn in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment
- possess relevant key competences specific to the fellowship
Note:-
- Proven engagement in related extracurricular activities is an asset.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
- Women applicants will receive preference.
Benefits
Selected candidates will receive a fellowship opportunity at UNU. Fellowships will last for one year, with the possibility of an extension of one further year, subject to satisfactory performance.

Selection Criteria
Applicants will have a telephone or Zoom interview and be shortlisted according to competency. Successful candidates will be offered a fellowship and will be contracted under a UNU Personnel Service Agreement (PSA). Fellows will be chosen based on their skills relevant to UNU-EHS/VIE and UNFCCC. Upon completing the UNFCCC – UNU Early Career Climate Fellowship Programme, they will be equipped to work in their home countries or internationally, applying the experience gained in Bonn.
