About The Program

University of Geneva Excellence Master Fellowships 2026 is an opportunity offered by the Faculty of Science, University of Geneva, to Master's applicants. The scholarship supports outstanding and highly motivated students pursuing one of the specified disciplines. Selected candidates will receive up to CHF 15,000 per annum

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • currently hold or be pursuing a Bachelor's degree 
  • demonstrate academic excellence and be one of the top students in the respective year
  • meet the admission criteria of the chosen Master's degree in any of the scientific disciplines offered by the University

Benefits

The selected fellows will receive a grant amounting from CHF 10,000 to CHF 15,000 per annum which includes no teaching duties.

Note: The fellowship is awarded for 1 year and is extendable for the regular duration of the chosen Master's program (3-4 semesters) given that the applicant is academically doing well at the end of his/her 1st semester of studies.

Documents

The following documents have to be attached with the application as a single PDF:

  • Scanned copy of the national identity card or passport of the applicant.
  • Scanned copy of the UNIGE card or, if the applicant is not a UNIGE student, the mail of the central administration named "UNIGE-Candidature: Dépôt de votre dossier" (proof you have started the matriculation process) is required.
  • An updated Curriculum Vitae not exceeding 2 pages.
  • Copies of the transcript of exams taken during the term of the Bachelor's degree, along with all grades.
  • A motivation letter by the applicant describing his/her specific scientific interests and motivation to pursue a Master of Science program at the University of Geneva.
  • Letters of reference from 2 professors (preferably sent by them directly to Excellence-Master-Sciences@unige.ch)
  • Any other relevant document, like results of GRE (General requirement examination), TOEFL or other language tests.

Step 1:
