About The Program

UNESCO Governing Bodies Internship 2026 is offered by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The internship provides an opportunity for eligible students and recent graduates to work with the Governing Bodies Secretariat, contributing to reports, research, and the preparation of sessions of the Executive Board and General Conference. Selected applicants will gain hands-on exposure to the functioning of UNESCO's governance structures and international diplomacy.

EligibilityDeadline Date: 31-Dec-2026

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be at least 20 years old at the time of application
  • be currently enrolled in the 3rd (third) year or final year of a Bachelor's degree; OR
  • be currently enrolled in a second university degree, Master's, or PhD degree or equivalent; OR
  • have completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree within the last 12 months (as per the diploma completion date)
  • have an excellent command, both written and spoken, of English or French
  • know about computer systems and office-related software
  • possess strong interpersonal and communication skills

Note: If the applicant is applying for a technical/vocational assignment, be enrolled in a specialized technical/vocational institution and be in the final year of study, or have graduated within the last 12 months
 

Benefits

The selected applicants will receive the following benefits: 

  • Gain hands-on experience in social media, web management, press relations, photography, and publishing at UNESCO Headquarters
  • Internship duration of 1 to 6 months
  • 2.5 days of leave per month, plus an additional 1 working day per complete month of internship
  • Limited workplace insurance coverage against risk of injury, illness, disability, or death incurred during the internship and directly attributable to its execution

Note: UNESCO does not remunerate interns. There is no compensation, financial or otherwise, for internship assignments.
