About The Program
The Summer Research Fellowship Programme 2026 is offered jointly by the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru, the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, the National Academy of Sciences, India, Prayagraj. The fellowship is a prestigious opportunity designed to support outstanding students and teachers to pursue research in science, engineering, and medicine. Selected students will receive a fellowship opportunity.

To be eligible, an applicant must:
For Students:
- be studying in one of the following courses:
- BS/BSc (2nd year only)
- BSc (Research) (3rd year only)
- BStat/BMath (2nd year only)
- BPharm (3rd and 4th years only)
- BE/BTech/BCA (2nd and 3rd years only)
- BArch (2nd, 3rd and 4th years only)
- MS/MSc/MVSc/MPharm (1st year only)
- ME/MTech/MCA/MArch (1st year only)
- MStat/MMath (1st year only)
- 5-year integrated MS/MSc/MTech/MBBS/BVSc (2nd, 3rd, 4th years only)
- PharmD (3rd, 4th years only)
- Dual degree BTech+MTech (2nd, 3rd, 4th years only)
- Dual degree BE+MSc (2nd, 3rd, 4th years only)
- Dual degree BS+MS (2nd, 3rd, 4th years only)
- Integrated PhD (1st, 2nd years only)
- MSc Tech (1st, 2nd years only)
- have a minimum of 65% average marks in core subjects (excluding languages) from Class X up to post-graduation
- be teaching in a college/university to apply as teachers
(Note: PhD Students are not eligible for this fellowship.)
Benefits
The selected candidates will receive an opportunity to pursue a fellowship programme under the guidance of dedicated and experienced mentors.
Documents
- Mark sheets from Class 10 to till the last examination (JPEG format, max 700 KB each)
- Contact details of the present teacher (for student applicant)
- Project proposal(250 words)
- Write-up about research interests (150-250 words)
- Publications, if any (for teacher applicants)
- Authorisation letter from Principal/HoD (for selected teacher applicants, to be sent by post)
Note:
- Both student and teacher applicants must upload scanned versions of mark sheets from class X till the last examination in JPEG Format (the size of each mark sheet should not exceed 700 KB).
- Student applicants should provide the email ID of one of their teachers familiar with their work. The Academy will approach them for a recommendation letter in the prescribed format.
