Selection Criteria
The candidates will be selected based on the merit list considering the following criteria:
- First Priority: Students admitted to reputed National Institutes (IIT, ISI, IISER, NISER, DAE-CBS, IISc) in Basic and Natural Science course
- Remaining Scholarships: Merit-based selection using the average percentage score in the Class 12 board exam in English/Hindi and best of three out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. (Note:- If the number of students in first priority category, exceeds the offered number of scholarships, then criteria used for remaining scholarship category selection will be applied)
- Additional Weightage:
- Students who studied Class 11 & 12 in a rural area school will be given an additional 2% weightage. Rural area schools will be regarded as those schools which are within the jurisdiction of the Gram Panchayat.
- The students who have passed their Class 11 & 12 from any elite* schools located in rural areas will not be given an additional weightage of 2%. ‘*Elite’ schools are defined to be schools, where tuition fees and other charges payable exceed ₹ 1,00,000.
- For comparing student ranks, their average test scores will be slightly boosted if they come from a less-privileged background (like a non-elite rural school). For instance, a student who scored 90% in their 12th board exams may have their grade increased to 92% to account for the challenges they faced.
- The students claiming the benefit of the rural areas must submit a passing school certificate of Class 11 and 12 from the rural area school duly signed by the Principal of the school, Sarpanch/Gram Sachiv of the village panchayat from where passed and concerned Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO).
Note:- Preference will be given to certain categories like female students, students from SC/ST/OBC communities, and students with disabilities, in case of a tie.
