Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), J&K 2022-23 is an initiative of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) [a statutory body and a national-level council for technical education, under the Department of Higher Education] for Class 12 passed/diploma degree holders in J&K and Ladakh. The scholarship aims to support the youth of J&K to pursue higher education outside the state. It facilitates access to quality education for students so as to equip them with knowledge, skills, experience, and training for higher academic levels/professions. The students selected will receive financial assistance up to INR 3 lakhs and a maintenance allowance of INR 1 lakh per annum.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must - 

    • be a domicile of Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K)/Ladakh
    • have passed class 12 examination in academic session 2020-21 and 2021- 2022 from J&K Board of School Education only or CBSE schools located in UTs of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K)/Ladakh
    • have to pass a Diploma in Engineering from the Polytechnic Institutes recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education(DTE), J&K and Ladakh
    • have an annual family income of INR 8 lakhs or below from all sources

     

    Note - The following candidates are not eligible for the scholarship -

    • Candidates pursuing courses through Open Universities.
    • Candidates availing benefit of any other scholarship Scheme.
    • Candidates gaining admission through ‘Management Quota’.
    • Candidates pursuing Diploma course.
    • Candidates pursuing Post Graduate level studies, in any discipline.
    • Candidates who have a family income of over INR 8 lakhs per annum from all sources.
    • Candidates who have not applied through online registration in the AICTE Portal.
    • Candidates taking admission in colleges other than the prescribed colleges given in AICTE Portal.
    • Candidates who have taken admission through agents/NGOs.
    Benefits

    A total of 5,000 scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing courses in General Degree, Professional Degree, and Medical Streams. The students selected for the scholarship will receive the following benefits - 

    A total of 2,070 scholarships to be offered to General degree candidates - 

    • Up to INR 30,000 per annum for the academic fee (payable to the institution)
    • Maintenance allowance of INR 1 lakh per annum 

     

    A total of 2,830 scholarships to be offered to Professional degree candidates - 

    • Up to INR 1.25 lakhs per annum for the academic fee (payable to the institution)
    • Maintenance allowance of INR 1 lakh per annum 

     

    A total of 100 scholarships to be offered to MBBS/BDS or equivalent medical stream candidates - 

    • Up to INR 3 lakhs per annum for the academic fee (payable to the institution)
    • Maintenance allowance of INR 1 lakh per annum

     

    Note -

    • The maintenance fees will be paid in ten equal instalments to meet hostel, mess, books, stationery & other incidentals.
    • New students admitted in the academic session 2022-23 will be paid maintenance allowance from the date of joining the institute physically.
    Documents
    • Photo (200 x 230 pixels – preferred)
    • Signature (140 x 60 pixels – preferred)
    • Class 10 marksheet
    • Class 12 marksheet (if any)
    • Diploma Certificate (for lateral entry only)
    • Domicile Certificate
    • Aadhaar Card (if any)
    • Family Income Certificate (Issued by Tehsildar or equivalent)
    • Valid Caste certificate for SC/ST/SEBC for claiming the reservation as per State Govt.
      Policy
    • Disability certificate (40% and above) if any
    • Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET) result
    • NEET result for B.Sc. (Nursing programme)

     

    The following bank details seeded with aadhaar to be submitted at the time of registration to be verified by the Facilitation Center - 

    • Scanned copy of aadhaar card of the student (if any)
    • Scanned copy of the first two pages of Bank Passbook/Cancelled cheque clearly indicating the following - 
      • Name of Accounts Holder
      • Name and Address of the Bank
      • Saving Bank Account Number
      • IFSC Code and MICR Code

     

    Note - 

    • The saving bank account should be seeded with an aadhaar number and in the name of the bonafide student only.
    • The candidates' bank accounts should not be a No-frill Account/Minor account, Parents’ account/Non-Operative account, joint account etc.
    How can you apply?

    Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps -

    Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now'. 
    Step 2: Navigate to 'PMSSS 2021-22: Registration' and click on it.
    Step 3: Now click on 'Registration for 10+2', fill the registration form with all the required details to 'Register'.
    Step 4: After successful registration, fill in the necessary information and attach the relevant documents.
    Step 5: Submit the application form.

Application Deadline - 4th August 2022

Selection Criteria

The scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of merit.

Terms and Conditions
  • The candidates are not eligible for the scholarship without document verification at Facilitation Centre created by J&K and Ladakh Government. Further, the choice filling option will not be opened for the respective candidate.
  • Only the Facilitation Centre officer can edit the online application form subject to the production of original documents in support of the claim/request for editing.
  • The candidates must collect a document verification report (student copy) from the facilitation centre without fail.
  • No original documents are to be submitted to the facilitation centres. However, the candidates have to show all the original documents to the Nodal Officer for verification.
  • Admission under the Lateral Entry Scheme will be subject to vacant seats available during the academic year 2021-22 in the Engineering stream only.
  • All credentials of the applicant will be put to verification on the National Scholarship Portal of the Government of India for de-duplication. If any student is found to be availing the benefit of another scheme, the application will be summarily rejected.
  • Merit list will be prepared for HSC and Lateral Entry students and the same will be displayed on the AICTE portal for conduction of online counselling for final allotment of seats in colleges to eligible candidates subject to choice filling/availability of scholarships.
  • Admissions in B.Sc.(Nursing) programme will be given in Government Nursing Institutions and as per the list provided by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi.
  • Hostel facility criteria is to be relaxed for General Stream courses or any other quality institution located in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad etc.
  • The chairman of AICTE is authorized to make the final decision and relax conditions if any.
  • Aspirants desiring to take admission through JEE Mains/JEE Advance in IITs, NITs, IISc, IISER and Centrally Funded Institutions with National Importance may be considered if the student participates in online counselling by filling their JEE Mains/JEE Advance roll numbers with respective admit card and result and wherever SSSJ&K quota is not available.
  • Aspirants seeking admission in the Architecture programme are required to qualify for NATA. The candidates' admission to Architecture course through the AICTE portal will be confirmed after uploading their NATA result and admit card.
  • Aspirants seeking admission in Integrated Law Course (B.A.LLB) are required to qualify for CLAT and their admission to the law course through the AICTE portal would be confirmed after uploading their CLAT result and admit card. Admission to the law course of National Law Schools will only be considered.
  • The scholarships granted under the scheme are renewed in subsequent classes subject to good conduct and maintenance of attendance as prescribed by the respective institution. 
  • The students failing to get promoted to the next class/level will receive the scholarship in the following year subject to the condition that if the student fails again for the second time, then the scholarship will be forfeited and the scholarship will not be renewed for the subsequent years.
  • If a student is unable to appear in the annual examination owing to illness and/or on account of any unforeseen incident, the scholarship may be renewed for the next academic year on submission of a medical certificate and other proof to satisfy the Head of the Institution who will also certify the same.
  • The scholarship will not be paid twice for the same year of study.
  • A list of Institutions/Universities where admissions are offered will be prepared and displayed in the candidate’s login for choice filling. The eligible candidates under the scheme are directed to choose the courses from these Institutions/ Universities only.
  • “No Scholarship” will be paid to the candidates who take admission in other than the list of Institutions/Universities available on the portal of AICTE except MBBS/BDS/allied medicinal courses/Central/State Govt. for which supernumerary quota is not available.
