About The Program

Post-Matric Scholarships for SC Students, Punjab 2025-26 is an opportunity offered by the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment & Minorities, Government of Punjab for SC students of Class 11 and above. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to Scheduled Caste students studying at the post-matriculation or post-secondary stage so that they can complete their education. The selected students will receive a maintenance allowance of up to ₹1,200 monthly and other grants.

To be eligible, an applicant must:- 

  • be a domicile of Punjab
  • belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category
  • be studying in a recognised post-matric course and institution
  • have passed the matriculation, higher secondary, or any higher examination of a recognised university or board of secondary education
  • have an annual family income of less than ₹2,50,000 from all sources
Benefits

The selected students will receive the scholarship in the following manner:-

Group Course

Maintenance allowance (in ₹ per month) for 10 months

Hosteller Day Scholar
Group I (i) Degree and Postgraduate level courses in Medicine, Engineering, Technology, Planning, Architecture, Design, Fashion Technology, Agriculture, Veterinary & Allied Sciences, Management, Business Finance/Administration, and Computer Science/Applications.
(ii) Postgraduate diploma courses in various branches of management & medicine.
(iii) C.A./I.C.W.A./C.S./I.C.F.A.,etc.(Applicable at day scholar rate only ₹ 550 per month)
(iv) M.Phil, Ph.D and Post-Doctoral Programmes (D.Lit., D.Sc., etc.), Group I, Group II and Group III courses.
(vi.) L.L.B, Integrated L.L.B, L.L.M

Professional Courses leading to Degree, Diploma, Certificate in areas like Pharmacy (B.Pharma), Nursing(B.Nursing), BFS, other para-medical branches like rehabilitation, diagnostics etc., Mass Communication, Hotel Management & Catering, Travel/Tourism/Hospitality Management, Interior Decoration, Nutrition & Dietetics, Commercial Art, Financial Services (e.g. Banking, Insurance, Taxation etc.) for which entrance qualification is minimum Sr. Secondary (10+2) and Vocational stream, ITI courses and Polytechnic where entrance qualification is Class 12 or above.

Note: Students will receive reimbursement for compulsory non-refundable fees.

The students with disabilities will receive the additional allowances in the following manner:- 

  • Reader allowances are ₹240 per month (Groups I and II), ₹200 per month (Group III), and ₹160 per month (Group IV).
  • Transport allowances of up to ₹160 per month are available for students who do not reside in the hostel on the educational institution's premises.
  • Escort allowances of ₹160 per month are provided for severely handicapped day scholar students with low extremity disabilities.
  • A special payment of ₹160 per month is admissible to any hostel employee willing to assist a severely orthopedically handicapped student residing in the hostel who requires a helper.
  • An allowance of ₹240 per month is provided for extra coaching for mentally retarded and mentally ill students.

Note:-

  • Disabled students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category covered under this Scheme may also be eligible for additional benefits offered by other schemes.
  • Disability, as defined under the relevant Act, must be certified by a competent medical authority of the State Government or Union Territory Administration.

  • A caste certificate, duly signed by an authorised revenue officer not below the rank of Tehsildar
  • Income declaration in the form of a certificate issued by a revenue officer not below the rank of a Tehsildar
    • Employed parent(s)/guardian(s) must obtain an income certificate from their employer.
    • For any additional income sources, employed parent(s)/guardian(s) must obtain a consolidated certificate from a revenue officer.
  • Disability certificate (if applicable)
  • Academic transcripts including marksheets, certificates and diplomas of the previous qualifying examination
