About The Program

PKC WEnyan Scholarship Program 2024 is an opportunity provided by the Pune Knowledge Cluster (PKC)*, sponsored by BASF Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd.** females in chemistry and allied fields. The program aims to support women students from marginalized communities and low-income groups in Maharashtra to pursue educational and career opportunities in research and entrepreneurship in basic chemistry, speciality chemicals, agrochemicals, new materials, pharmaceuticals, medicinal chemistry, sustainability, and allied areas. Selected candidates will receive a monthly scholarship of up to ₹15,000 and other benefits.

*Pune Knowledge Cluster (PKC) is an initiative aimed at promoting education and research in science and technology, with a focus on Pune, Maharashtra, India.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • a female domiciled in Maharashtra
  • belongs to a marginalised community/low-income group

Scholarship Category A (Academic Research Project)

  • be a final-year graduate student pursuing a B.Sc./B.Tech./B. E./B. Pharm. or equivalent degree OR
  • be a final-year graduate student pursuing an M. Sc./M. Tech./M. E./M.Pharm. or equivalent degree

Scholarship Category B (Entrepreneurship)

  • be pursuing full-time entrepreneurship within one year of completing a graduate/postgraduate degree
  • be a Ph.D. degree student in the first or second year, where the research is associated with product or prototype development
Benefits

The selected candidates will receive the following awards:-

  • Women pursuing undergraduate degrees: A monthly scholarship of up to ₹10,000 for 3 months
  • Women pursuing postgraduate degrees: A monthly scholarship of up to ₹15,000 for 6 months
  • Early-stage women entrepreneurs: A monthly scholarship of up to ₹15,000 for 6 months and a prototyping grant of up to ₹2,00,000
  • Free interactive sessions with women leaders in chemistry, applied sciences and entrepreneurship once a month
Documents
  • Entrepreneurship project proposal/research project in the prescribed format
  • Class 12 marksheet and certificates
  • Marksheet of the last appeared undergraduate/postgraduate examination (as applicable)
  • Income group proof (non-creamy layer certificate/income certificate, if applicable)
  • Details of a bank account with KYC completed

Note:-

  • The documents must be uploaded in PDF, Word (.docx), JPEG, or PNG format.

How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can follow these steps to apply:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard and fill in the required details to 'Register' (Note:- If already registered, log in using the registered email ID.) 
Step 3: Read all the details carefully and click on the given registration link or scan the QR code to access the application form.
Step 4: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit the application.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be selected based on the following criteria:-

  • Student's grades and performance in the undergraduate/postgraduate program
  • Scientific evidence and rationale provided in support of the project
  • Student's scientific interests beyond the project and their interest in pursuing a career in research/science-based entrepreneurship/industry
  • Time commitment to the project (project should be pursued full-time)

Terms and Conditions
  • The committee will monitor the research projects quarterly. Funds will be disbursed based on the completion of these milestones.
  • Applications containing inaccurate information or plagiarism will be subject to disciplinary action.
  • The PKC Team identifies institutions in Pune/Mumbai that can accept external students.
  • They facilitate connecting students to these institutions and prospective PIs.
  • If early-stage entrepreneurs need connections to an incubation center, the PKC Team can facilitate matchmaking.
