About The Program

The PKC WEnyan Scholarship Program 2026 is an opportunity provided by the Pune Knowledge Cluster (PKC), sponsored by BASF India Limited (BIL), for women in chemistry and allied fields. The program aims to support women students from marginalised communities and low-income groups in Maharashtra to pursue educational and career opportunities in research and entrepreneurship in:

  • Fundamental Chemistry
  • Fuel Cells/Batteries
  • Pharmacology/Drug Discovery
  • Material Science
  • Herbal Formulations
  • Nutraceutical
  • Agro-Chemistry
  • Environment/Sustainability
  • Computational Chemistry and Artificial Intelligence

Selected candidates will receive a monthly scholarship of up to ₹15,000, along with other benefits.

EligibilityDeadline Date: 25-Aug-2026

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • a female domiciled in Maharashtra
  • belong to a marginalised community/low-income group

Research Scholarship

  • be a final-year graduate student pursuing a B.Sc/B.Tech./B. E./B. Pharm. or equivalent degree OR
  • be a final-year postgraduate student pursuing an M. Sc./M. Tech./M. E./M.Pharm. or equivalent degree

Entrepreneurship Program 

  • be pursuing full-time entrepreneurship within one year of completing a graduate/postgraduate degree, OR
  • be a Ph.D. degree student in the first three years, where the research is associated with product or prototype development
Benefits

The selected candidates will receive the following awards:-

  • Women pursuing undergraduate degrees: A monthly scholarship of up to ₹10,000 for 3 months
  • Women pursuing postgraduate degrees: A monthly scholarship of up to ₹15,000 for 6 months
  • Early-stage women entrepreneurs: A monthly scholarship of up to ₹15,000 for 6 months and a prototyping grant of up to ₹2,00,000
  • Free interactive sessions with women leaders in chemistry, applied sciences and entrepreneurship once a month
Documents
  • Entrepreneurship project proposal/research project in the prescribed format
  • Class 12 marksheet and certificates
  • Marksheet of the last appeared undergraduate/postgraduate examination (as applicable)
  • Income group proof (non-creamy layer certificate/income certificate, if applicable)
  • Details of a bank account with KYC completed

Note:-

  • The documents must be uploaded in PDF, Word (.docx), JPEG, or PNG format.
  • The template and project proposal templates can be found on the scholarship website and application link.
How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can follow these steps to apply:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard and fill in the required details to 'Register' (Note:- If already registered, log in using the registered email ID.) 
Step 3: Navigate to the application link under the 'WEnyan Scholarship Call for Applications' heading and click it.
Step 4: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents, and submit the application.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be selected based on the following criteria:-

  • Student's grades and performance in the undergraduate/postgraduate program
  • Scientific evidence and rationale provided in support of the project
  • Student's scientific interests beyond the project and their interest in pursuing a career in research/science-based entrepreneurship/industry
  • Time commitment to the project (project should be pursued full-time)

Terms and Conditions
  • The committee will monitor the research projects quarterly. Funds will be disbursed based on the completion of these milestones.
  • Applications containing inaccurate information or plagiarism will be subject to disciplinary action.
  • The PKC Team identifies institutions in Pune/Mumbai that can accept external students.
  • They facilitate connecting students to these institutions and prospective PIs.
  • If early-stage entrepreneurs need connections to an incubation center, the PKC Team can facilitate matchmaking.
