About The Program

The NSP ICAR Senior Research Fellowship (PGS) 2026 is offered by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to students in different disciplines of agriculture and allied sciences. It aims to recognise talent, promote merit, and encourage talented students to pursue higher agricultural education. Selected candidates will receive a fellowship and a contingency grant for higher studies.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian national or be domiciled in India
  • not exceed 30 years of age
  • have a Bachelor’s degree, or be appearing for the final examination of their Bachelor’s degree
  • have obtained the following minimum grades:
    • General and OBC categories - 60% marks, or an OGPA of 6.5/10.00, or 3.25/5.00, or 2.6/4.00
    • SC/ST /Physically Challenged (PC) categories - 50% marks, or an OGPA of 5.5/10.00, or 2.75/5.00, or 2.2/4.00
    • be applying for or be admitted to the specified universities

Note:-

  • Candidates must complete their postgraduate degree in all respects and submit a degree completion certificate from the Registrar by 30 June or the counselling date, whichever is later.
  • SC/ST/Women/PC/OBC(Non-creamy layer as per the Central list of OBC) categories can avail a relaxation of 5 years of age.
  • For in-service candidates of Agricultural Universities (AU), the age limit is 45 years as on the date of examination.
Benefits

Selected candidates will receive a fellowship and contingency grant for higher studies at rates prescribed by ICAR, for a maximum duration of 3 years.

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:-

Step 3: All India Competitive Examination for the award of ICAR's Senior Research Fellowship [AICE-SRF(PGS)] will be conducted by the Council for the award of the fellowship based on merit and concurrent admission to a doctoral degree program.
